As a Hawthorn supporter, I would love to see you guys absolutely hammer Geelong.

I think that if your backline can shutdown the supposed 'forwards' of Geelong, then the game will certainly fall in to your hands.

The midfield matchups are very even, so whoever wins the contested ball will most likely win the game.

Therefore, I wish St. Kilda all the best on Saturday, and would love to see those arrogant Geelong supporters shut up.

Best of luck in the big one Sainters...

Though you have reamed Richmond out plenty of-late I still have a soft spot for St Kilda & like your forward structure & respect your pressure and tackling. :thumbsu:

I'm a few years older than some & remember with fondness (sort of :o) the trip down to "Muddy Moorabin" on Saturday afternoons.

Go hard...

Good luck to your boys tomorrow.
I'm not really on any side but it would be great for the Saints to get a win.:thumbsu:

Good Luck boys glad to know one of the 2 teams in the afl will get a change to break the draught (sadly it wasnt the dogs) O well i will be going for geelong but only because they're my home town but all the best boys :thumbsu:

Bugger hammering the cats ...... Win by 1 point from a free kick after the siren, and then have the replay show that the umpie got it wrong !!!! Now that would be champagne comedy...

But seriously, best of luck guys, I'll be barracking hard for you !!

Having been lucky enough to see 3 flags in my club's relatively short history, I can't imagine how you all must be feeling as your club chases only their second since the league began.

If your boys just play the hard, direct footy they did against the Cats last time, and most importantly keep that insane pressure up, the flag will be yours.

Give 'em hell Sainters!

Go Sainters!! Hope you guys can take the flag home!! I'll certainly be cheering for ya!! :thumbsu: :D

Oh when the Saints! Go Marching in! :thumbsu:

Go you mighty Saints.

Bring the flag, bring it with the players, most importantly...

BRING IT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN WAITING 43 YEARS

COME ON ROOEY

Thanks. 43 years is some journey but here we are. 12 years on since we last had a crack, I don't know if I can wait another 12 years or more for another shot if we don't succeed tomorrow. If we can't win a flag with this extremely talented group then when will we?..............

I dare to dream after all these years but I still have nightmares and wake up in a cold sweat with a hollow feeling that I will never see a St Kilda Premiership.

You convince yourself you will see the Mighty Saints lift the cup one day but there are no certainties sadly, especially with the AFL expanding now and into the future making our dreams all the more difficult to achieve.

Fremantle and Richmond supporters wouldn't come close to what Saints fans suffer. Geelong can talk up there heart wrenching disappointment from last year and seek sentiment and redemption all they like, its nothing compared to what we endure. I'm not getting my hopes up too much because I like everyone else fear failure and I won't be dreaming tonight of Doc Baldock handing the 2009 Premiership cup to Captain Nick Riewoldt. Lets just go and play our best and what will be will be. Like Stewart Lowe said on 97', he had played the game out in his head so many times in the lead up that by the time the game came around he was mentally gone.

Too much hurt from 1997 with the fairytale that wasn't to be. Nicky Winmars father to run out with his son dies from cancer the night before, Lowe dealing with difficult family issues in hospital the night before. Barry Hall, Harvey brownlow, Alves leaving Shanahan on Jarman, Everitt injured. On a whole we were overwhelmed.

But hey we love the saints and always will. Regardless

Just popped in to wish you guys the best of luck. You'll understand if I say I hope you don't win, but here's to a cracking contest and a hard fought GF:thumbsu:

Good luck today Sainters.

Reckon your club has come a long, long way since 1997/98.

In 1998 I have memories of Spider Everitt arrogantly spinning the ball on his hand in front of the face of his Swans opponent and of Aussie Jones telling his Bulldog opponent after a minor round game that he'd see him again on Grand Final Day. Sheer arrogance. Immature. Absolutely no idea or understanding of how to be a successful, honourable, respected side. They felt that success was a God-given right, rather than something that had to be earned.

Couple that with an off field administration that sacked Stan Alves after a grand final and a semi final appearance in consecutive years and also managed to lose Joel Smith and Jamie Shanahan - both at that stage in your best 18 - for nothing. The thinking seemed to be that who cares if we lose these two guys? We are a Good Club now and will be successful regardless.

The group of players and off field staff you have assembled now are a much more disciplined, hard working, mature group. Riewoldt, Hayes, Dal Santo, Koschitzke, Goddard, Fisher, Montagna... these guys are deadset stars, role models and are respected right throughout the competition. They play the game the right way and I reckon will get the success they deserve today, as much as the previous generation got exactly what they deserved in 1997/98.

Thanks for all the support guys.

We will only win the flag if we deserve to do so. Geelong will make sure of that.

Luck isn't required when the boys have trained so hard all year and haven't picked up anywhere near the injuries problems of the Cats.

But thanks, we might need some.
