Benny Reid can head back to Williamstown this week if Mick is serious about winning. Shown plenty but just not upto it at the moment eg. when he was running into the open goal on the weekend and panicked and then slewed it off the side of the boot. Drop him and bring him back in time and he will we a better player

I would agree with that. Ben has shown a little bit, but having my first look at him on Saturday, he is very skinny. I'm happy that he gets the big time experience, but he probably won't be making a massive impact until 2009/10. Still, he has done some good things.

give him 4 month supply of meat pies and lock him in the gym with the pies, unlock the doors 4 month later :D we have a beast

Yeah the guy definitely panicked and made a lot of errors, but he led well and was always presenting. If MM gave him another go I wouldn't be too unhappy....surprised though. I have to say watching him kick at goals I don't think I could handle next week if him, Rocca and Cloke were all missing shots at goal...its bad enough with two!

His kicking towards the big sticks has been shakey at both levels. I think it's mainly nerves related and he's uber-young. Love his contesting though and his field kicking appeared quite intelligent. Plenty to work with.

I'm glad that he got a taste, but I think it's time to go back to Willi and work on a few things.

Getting Rocca back i wouldn't mind giving him another week(if team Balance permits ). Just having Rocca there may take the pressure off him to the point where he goes out and just plays his natural game.

if it were me I'd drop Medhurst this week, and give him another go.

He's playing ok, just his kicking I see as the problem.

he needs to go this week, but happy with his efforts as the youngest player in the league and a KPP to boot!

He certainly panicked running into goal, especially as the handpass to O'bree who was all alone would have been the better option....

See how broad his shoulders are. He will end up with a Chris Tarrant like physique.

Let's work on his kicking now, but I think it is more down to nerves at this point rather then technique.

I personallly think we should keep Reid in.
If he had converted all his chances he would have kicked three goals two weeks in a row and nobody would want him back at Willi.

I think with pebbles back this week, Benny reid will head back to Willi. But l think he has fuelled our appetites with what he showed in his two appearances. Will get another go before the year is out and if he dosen't,can't wait to see him develop next year. He is a player.

I thought he played ok for a skinny kid and you are pretty spot on regarding his needing a bit of work and some buildng up. He seemed to get a bit of it and head popped through one or two of those goals we'd all be talking "another gun recruit"...I think he may be more of a "the earth is patient" sought of proposition...I hope so

He's lazy, he hates running

If he falls over, he doesn't get back up, he looks to the umpire just to see if he can get something out of him

Are you actually a Pie supporter. Give him a chance. You've burried him after 3 games. Lazy? Rubbush call from you. Presents well, especially in his debut game. He'll be just fine. Don't worry about that

2 games even... Benny reid is going to be a gun. Why not leave him in the side if its a dry night? the pies will stretch geelongs defence.. people may laugh and say geelongs defence is the best....

but with a potent forward line such as Rocca, Cloke, Reid, Didak, Thomas, Leon and run from benny johnson and swan the pies r in good shape.. id be dropping medhurst.

If we are serious about being professional and winning premierships then we have to say to Ben that he gets another chance when his kicking is significantly improved. He looks to have a lot of promise. The time to get his sub standard kicking sorted out is RIGHT NOW. Get it worked on until it is an asset rather than a liability.

The kid's the youngest player in the AFL. He's done enough in a couple of games to say that he looks the goods. But its now the business end of the season now, and we need all hands on deck.

He needs to go back to the VFL and continue his apprenticeship. You never know, with a few senior injuries and/or a bit of VFL form, he may be needed in the black and white later this year.

I would of thought he would have been alot better but I now think Mick has to drop him for the moment and give him some more experience in the pre season to see how he goes then. Hopefully he grows into a great player.

Agree that he needs to go back, fill out and work on a few things (particularly his kicking). However, would love to see him given a chance as our 3rd tall forward - with Rocca and Cloke to take the pressure off a bit (and he doesn't have to play on a monster).

I am actually a little offended by the title of this thread......has a bit of snideness about it.

I was very impressed with Ben's first two games given his size, age and the conditions against St Kilda.

Against Hawtorn he timed his leads, was quick, found space and could have finished with three goals and a very handy goal assist to Travis Cloke on the lead.

Against St Kilda he again showed some promise early; made a gutsy attempt at a loose ball colliding heads (I think) with Del Santo....handing off a clever handball for a goal.

No doubt his kicking was poor for goal....will reserve judgement on whether it was technical or nerves for others. But I thought we saw glimpses of a kid who could be very special.

Yes, it may be time to go back to Williamstown but I'd love to see him alongside Rocca and Travis for at least one week. Will depend upon conditions.

Great teaser for the future though!!!!!!
