Saddened to hear of Dr Tony Cape's passing. He was the bridge between the old and new for alot of us older supporters. His administration and guidance almost pinched a GF birth in 1985, a great bulldog and great guy. RIP

He did an excellent job as president and was very well regarded. We were an extremely poor team when he took over in '82 but he helped greatly with the onfield recovery for us to a far more competitive team from '83 to '88.

I am genuinely saddened to read this news. Dr Capes brought us out of the wilderness in the 80s. I will always be grateful for his leadership in helping to get us to the PF in 1985. What an exciting year that was. Respect.

As a child I used to go to another doctor at the Footscray Clinic where Dr Capes practiced. As he was President of the Bulldogs I wanted to change doctors. I can still remember my mother saying " never go to a doctor who smokes like a chimney". He may have smoked a bit but I guess he was a very fine doctor and a very very good president for our club.
