Re: Round 4: The Sydney Swans vs. The North Melbourne Kangaroos

Was playing today, what was Goodes' report like? Bump went wrong, late to the ball or...?

Goodes and Power player (not sure who) running for a ball, Power guy got there first and got over it, Goodes slid into the contest knees first.

Not horribly malicious but it was clumsy and I think he'll get a week or two.

Ah, head contact? Hopefully if it was negligent, in play, body contact, medium force, that'd be four activation points. He has no carry over points, so hopefully he'll be able to take and early plea and a reprimand.

Re: Round 4: The Sydney Swans vs. The North Melbourne Kangaroos

That'll be the killer imo, the fact that he did the same thing and I don't think they'll look at that kindly.

Re: Round 4: The Sydney Swans vs. The North Melbourne Kangaroos

How was it the exact same incident? One time he went in studs up, this time he basically slid into the guy and got him with his thighs.

Seriously I feel like I'm looking at different footage to everyone else.

Re: Round 4: The Sydney Swans vs. The North Melbourne Kangaroos

If Goodes goes for that incident, then the MRP is a joke, considering Whitecross got off for a similar incident during the week, which i thought, was far worse. Why should Goodes be suspended for? Just because he is Goodes and Whitecross gets off, because Hawks supporters are whingers? No way, Goodes should be suspended for that.

It's not exactly the same but it's close enough. That shouldn't have anything to do with their ruling, but it probably will.

Re: Round 4: The Sydney Swans vs. The North Melbourne Kangaroos

Okay I've seen the incident about 10 times now, and I still don't get it. Both players do the exact same thing. Goodes doesn't even get him with the knees. He gets him with the shins.

I'm genuinely confused as to what the fuss is about.

Re: Round 4: The Sydney Swans vs. The North Melbourne Kangaroos

He will DA, If the head isn't sacred anymore, then Goodes should be right, if it was any other player, other than Goodes, would they even be looking at it?

I just saw it again 2-3 times and it looks softer each time. Goodes should get off that, probably happens a few times a game and goes unnoticed.

If anything, it's just a free kick offence, not a bannable offence, well, in my opinion anyway. ;)

Re: Round 4: The Sydney Swans vs. The North Melbourne Kangaroos

i think goodes has done the knees in first technique in response to the soft rule changes which have come in the last year or 2.. he doesnt want to go in high because he can get reported for head high, and he doesnt want to crash in shoulder first because he can get injured.. that stuff is for the real hard nuts like bolton and parker etc.. just my read on it.. i was at the stkilda nab cup game and thats what i thought then and the same today watching it on tv. still he prob shouldnt do it but todays incident was not suspension worthy

Re: Goodes Reported

I haven't seen the game yet but just watched that incident.

Wow.

Just wow.

Just to recap, this occurred during a game of football right? You know, the body contact sport?

I can barely see a free in it let alone a report. if he goes for that I give up.

Absolutely nothing in it.

At worst, at the very worst, he should be charged for being slightly clumsy.

No issue and no hassle.
