Did he even touch him? Not much in it IMHO.

Nathan Thomson on Massie however is a different story
Pratt on Biglands??

Doesn't look good on replay but it didn't seem like much. Barely touched him if at all and even the commentators conceded that he should be ok.

I'm pretty sure he didn't actually make contact with Wells, however I'm also pretty sure you can still go for attempt to trip. Will be interesting to see how this pans out but the thing going against him is that his foot looked to be a little upturned.

Hasn't goody got done for tripping before? I hope he doesn't get done for this ... we need him against a quality side like west coast next week!

His Brownlow hopes are in Dire Straits.

Yep. Last game of 2004 which meant he missed the first match of 2005 against...........West Coast.

Haven't seen the incident.
But it seems like body contact and in play are a given.

If assessed as low impact.

Then
intentional = Level 2 = 125 pts. No deduction for good behaviour, no addition for 1 match suspension = 125 pts - early plea = 93.75 pts
reckless and negligent = Level 1 = 75 pts. No deductions or additions = 75 pts - early plea = 56.25

Either way no games missed.
Intentional = ineligible for Brownlow, Reckless/negligent = not ineligible.

Nothing in it. Wells would have done Italy proud with that dive.

I would be very disappointed if the tribunal bothered with that piece of nothing.

Either way he'll still be playing next week. :thumbsu:

I think even the commentator made a mention of that dive and comparing it to what happened in the world cup!

looking at the replay again today, and I still think he will go.
anyone know
1, What is the ruling re less than 100 point charge and Brownlow eligibility?
2, And does he have any carry over points from last year?

actually, goodwin was suspended for 1 game in 04 for a trip. i change my stance - he's f*cked. goodbye charlie.

Most players who are suspended for tripping, have been, when using a distinct kicking motion towards their opponent (see Dustin Fletcher's multiples).

Goody seemed to extend his step in front of Wells and not kick or throw his leg out in an opposite direction to stop Wells. Therefore I am fairly sure, if he is sighted, the Crows will take this angle in their arguement.

Should get off..

LOL!

That is no way an incident worth suspension. Barely touched him.
North Melbourne players seemed to go to ground very very easily last night whilst playing the Crows. Nice win, shocking game by the roo's; last night they would have lost alot of respect from other teams.

Goody didnt trip him, Wells didnt fall until he was hit by Massie, can clearly see it in the TV replay, may get in the crap for attempted trip which has already been stated is a reprimand at worst.

As pointed out elsewhere, the free was for the high contact against Massie, not for the trip. I don't see Goodwin being cited for it - Mattner last week got done for a holding the man against Mitchell on the outer wing, then 50 for a trip, and there was actual contact made in that incident, unlike Goody.

Also as pointed out, Goody's action (in stretching his step, rather than lashing a foot through the air) means that you can make a defense that his action was not aimed towards making contact with Wells, but to making a blocking action to make Wells take evasive action.

He should get off, but who knows how the MRP works.

Haha no. I'm a Uni student and a Redcoat.

I like statistics, and I have the points chart for tribunal at hand to work out penalties for incidents, so I can get a guide on how long they'll miss rather than going that should be 2 weeks, 1 week etc.

Less than 100 points on the initial charge is what eligibility is based on. Does not take into account additions or deductions.

His previous suspension was in 2004, before the points system was introduced. Thus there is no carry over. Plus that was over 12 months ago anyway, and points only last 12 months.

1 game bans do not add any extra points just rule him ineligible for good behaviour deductions, so no problems there.
