A hosts file leaves "page cannot be displayed" errors where the ad would have been. Messy and annoying, add-ons like AdBlock are much cleaner. I haven't noticed it slow down the browser either.

Annoying how it doesn't have it's own network options, it actually uses Internet Explorer's one.
For the average home user, yes that would being annoying.
For someone who administers a network of pc's it's a godsend. It means if by some chance a user gets the browser installed, it still uses your group policy on proxy servers. Any of the other browsers it just opens another hole, security wise.

ditto. But somehow it doesn't handle the network options in the same way as IE.
Google chrome doesn't work at my work because of the proxies.
I never use IE and can't see why people do. It's horrid. I only use it for a program at work that is designed for IE (sigh).
Just load www.afl.com.au to see the difference.
I know you're a fan of Opera (not in a ghey way tho), but can Chrome block the myriad of ads that you see on sites such as www.theage.com.au?you guys realise that Ad-Block isn't the only thing that can block ads right? And firefox isn't the only browser that can do it?
I use host files so I don't see any ads regardless of the browser.
