Hey Post. what are your thoughts on Stroobants and potential recruits at Rochy?

Will be interesting,
From the outside. The players certainly seem to gravitate to him when he was a player, Hope it’s the same as coach.

He would certainly have contacts to get a couple of A graders.

Is Flats sticking around ? If not they need to strengthen the back up .

If Free and Bartels can play like the last month all of next yr and include a few A graders, top 4 should be achievable.

But can I trust that form.

Ky started very well kicking into a strong breeze. Mattingly and Wearden getting plenty.

Nick Sheldon went the hard tag on Mattingly that quarter and reduced his effectiveness a little, but still BOG. Whenever Reeves in ruck Ky dominate clearances. Elliot Stewart tried to get going from an injured leg in the first quarter but came off within first 5 minutes, gone for day. End of first half Nick Coulstock fell across Echuca player as he marked it as siren went. He got up and smacked him across the chops. Wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t start 3rd due to being carded. Axel Child’s looks like he copped one in the brawl too as we was very wobbly. He played well that quarter.

No cards to start the last quarter. Elliot Stewart did make it back onto the ground, more out of necessity I think for rotations. One goal each in a non- eventful third quarter. Ky kicking with more of a breeze than the usual gust in the last. Tom Holman emerging as one of the best. Mattingly less noticeable that quarter but Wearden still very good. Don’t know many of the Echuca lads but they will need a huge turnaround in the last. Can only see Ky increasing their lead. Hindsight will tell.

To Echuca’s credit they had much of the play in the last. Ky looked to slow it down and wasted scoring opportunities. However they did enough earlier on to deserve their 22 point win.

Good to see the Champs get the job done today. Listened via the website and sounded like Ky were in control much of the game. Seemed like Kirkby, Willis and Byrne were kept quiet by the Kyabram defence.

Do you think we will see some of these Kyabram players move on now they have this premiership?

Couple of retirements but that’s about it

Not sure think a few will stay
Won’t make decisions right now while celebrating
Have some good young talent at the club so maybe spots will be made available to accomodate them ?

Listening to Paulo and several of the players after the game, sounded like nobody's going anywhere (other than Vick and Reeves possibly pulling the pin).

Reeves is a beast, grand final specialist. What more can you say. Early on, Morris did play well.

Kirkby was good, I thought. Has had a solid finals series, and worked hard presenting the full length of the ground today. Getting on a bit, but surely would more than handy with a full pre season.

Bryne makes his team mates walk taller. Can do special things and has that mongrel about him.

Not condoning violence, but how good was the blue at half time?

Kyabram dominated the clearances when the game needed to be won. They also made Echuca pay for fundamental errors, which hurts.

I watched a bit of the third qtr and echuca had their chances, their ball movement from defence wad cutting ky up but there last kick fwd was terrible and their fwds weren't cohesive at all, Willis should have been moved to a wing or on ball with another crumbed required up fwd, as Kirkby looked dangerous and byrne was looking ominous, a nearly game by echuca
Weardon played a tom lynch from adelaide game linking up the mids from the fwds.
Just on pettifer, will be 38 next year, fair effort to pull the boots on next year

Ky won by 22 points not 200! Echuca generated enough ball forward to win but Willis Allen and Bryne couldnt get the job done. Ky didnt have much run in the last quarter if Echuca had of got themselves within 2 goals pressure on them would of gone through the roof. Well Done to Ky on the flag and their record but id stop short of saying they were impressive today.

Well done Kyabram. I thought it was a great game of pressure footy with similarities to the first final. Echuca had a a real chance to bring the margin to 16 points with about 10 mins to go. Kyabram used the space and width of Deakin well. Reeves dominated the ruck at times and Kus bigger bodies were telling. Echuca gallant and Ky deserving champions once again.

You don’t play in grand finals to look impressive, they are always tough physical slogs. I thought the score line flattered echuca, they were never in the game and were outplayed in most areas. No gvl team has won an undefeated premiership since 1939, Ky just did it for the 3rd time in 4 years. Fair to say I can’t see that happening again.

Dont get me wrong Ky have been excellent over the best part of a decade but that stat you produced about being Premiers & Champions x 3 over the past 4 years says just as much about the influence of the points system and cap. Your Tats Uniteds Mansfields etc who would wind up for a big crack every few years can only half pull the trigger these days.

Reading my commentary on the game you would have thought Ky was up by 200 but most of you would know which post I have nailed my colours to. Apologies that I did not know many of the Echuca players, would have known them all when Echuca were in their last GF as I lived in the Bronx and followed them. Only 3rd Ky game I have seen this year and only there to follow them. Having access to the post match player numbers helped me understand why Mangan was particularly quiet, Peter Faulks played a great game keeping him in check. Willis played an “Axel” like game for the Murray Bombers and ensured there was a physical presence from both teams. Though as Jon Dough pointed out, Kyabram had control for most of the game.
My recount of the incident before half time had one of the player’s names wrong. It was Josh Dillon who was hit in the chin after he fell in the back of Andrew Walker. The highest scoring vote getter in the league medal was deemed ineligible after scrutiny after the game saw him rubbed out. Interesting to see if a consistent process follows.

The halftime siren had blown and Walker had hold of the ball, the Ky player didn’t fall over Walker,he unnecessarily cannoned straight into his back as Walks stood still, that cheap shot prompted the brawl.

I have just watched the vision 5 times Marvin to try and figure out why Walker punched Dillon. Walker clearly is on the ground with the ball as Dillon came in behind him falling forward behind him landing on his knees on the ground, not onto Walker as I thought. Dillon’s right knee or elbow may have brushed Walker but hard to tell from camera angle, but definitely not “a cheap shot” or “a cannon straight into his back” . Dillon landed to the side of Walker and Walker must have felt some contact somewhere to retaliate like that, but not worth a smack in the chops. So I would argue Walker started the brawl by over re-action.

A number of unsavoury voice messages left On phones with no caller ID attached. Appalling content one of which I also personally received. Gutter behaviour. There is a way to win and away to lose. Disgusting.

Not sure why blokes think that this sort of thing is funny...get on the gas and celebrate your win..no need for that s**t
