My wishful thinking hope is that Ed has organised a parting gift of Wright, Clarkson and Monkhorst. With Ed taking Bucks with him.

For as mauch as we can assess from the outside seems a great appointment. Hawks a great club and he mad a big contribution. Experiences but still young enough to be driven to do more. Hope he can be a steading influence. Eddie and Walsh going is the regeneration we need even for all their good work. To bring someone so experiences in adds balanace especially once a "new " president takes over.

Very good appointment by the Pies.

My Blues made strong overtures to him a few years back and he knocked it all on the head, I think another club may have also had a crack too.

Maybe the Pies was the only other club he would work at due to his allegiance via the old playing days.

The other thing that this 'may' signal is the end of the Hawks as a serious finalists etc for some years. With Wright being the architect behind the scenes for so much of their success, he may have read the tea leaves about what is going to happen there in the future. Him leaving may fast-track that situation too.

You'd like to think that Wright's signing will be the first of many as the Pies look to revamp the administration & football department to ensure they stay in the finals window for some time.

The selections of people who are good at multiple roles must be part of decisions to recruitgoing forward. I wonder if he’s going to help Dekka in terms of recruitment too. Helps offset the Rendell loss as well as take the Walsh role.

I’m just curious about one thing, does anyone else think this might be a precursor to sacking Bucks? You know, all the rumours floating around for years saying Wright won’t come to pies as long as Bucks is there, he hates him etc.

Definitely.... but there there were certain players that were more beautiful to watch in a team full of ugly mongrels. Wright was one of them.

He was their head recruiter before becoming lost manager, and then their head of football. I’m happy enough with Hines junior talent ID. I’d hope though, that Wright will keep Guy on a tight leash, because it’s as a list manager he really shone imo. His ability to identify opposition players that could fill a need and get a fair deal done was second to none during their dominant years imo.

Take your pick on rumours spartan - there were strong rumours going around in '18 that the players weren't playing for Buckley but the performance of that team under the utmost injury duress for the entire finals series makes those rumours a joke.
