Exactly...You've got one of the best in the business. Gave Clarko all the right pieces to play with.

at one stage I was thinking of a Pies trifecta, but didn't quite make that:Had $50 on him at 10's through a book at work at the time, in typical Collingwood fashion I come runner up.
Did Walshy really retire or was he replaced with no intentions of going on to go and work elsewhere?
Did Ed stay on specifically to be in charge whilst appointments like this (as well as future Holden Centre naming rights, revamp plans, etc) were announced?
Either way, welcome home Wrighty.

Enjoyed a couple of drinks last night GC?For as mauch as we can assess from the outside seems a great appointment. Hawks a great club and he mad a big contribution. Experiences but still young enough to be driven to do more. Hope he can be a steading influence. Eddie and Walsh going is the regeneration we need even for all their good work. To bring someone so experiences in adds balanace especially once a "new " president takes over.
No, Brendan Bolton was...I didnt realise wright was responsible for everything that happened at the hawks for the last 15 years...

You only ever had a loan of him Kanga.Take any player you want.
Beat us in any game you wish.
But don't f@@king take Wrighty....
I used to like you guys....
Hopefully the start of us finally flexing some muscle and going after the best available people in all areas and , if they're not available , having a damn good shot at making them available anyway.
As long as he doesn’t bring the poo and pee stripes with him too I’m okAnd get Andrew Russell from the Blues, formally Hawthorn.

Oh come on, by the end of 1990 the whole team were your favourite players. Just admit itOne of my favorite players from the 1990 season along with Morwood Daicos Millane McGuane and Crosisca

Ethan does. 2021 would be his draft year. Would be playing for the stingrays I think.Does anyone know if Graham's sons play footy?
Genuinely smart football brains are few and far between.... You now have one of the best. You only ever had a loan of him Kanga.
1990 was the year of redemption for this club and he played a huge part in it.
A premiership hero, Magpie to the marrow of his bones.
He has learnt his craft well and now returns to his natural home.
And he's exactly what we need right now as well.Genuinely smart football brains are few and far between.... You now have one of the best.

Agreed Kanga, there a a reasonable amount of intelligent and educated blokes in the game but football brains are rare.Genuinely smart football brains are few and far between.... You now have one of the best.
He was their head recruiter before becoming lost manager, and then their head of football. I’m happy enough with Hines junior talent ID. I’d hope though, that Wright will keep Guy on a tight leash, because it’s as a list manager he really shone imo. His ability to identify opposition players that could fill a need and get a fair deal done was second to none during their dominant years imo.Love the acquisition Loved graham Wright the player.
Wasn’t GR Whorethorns recruiter before his current roller as FM?
The selections of people who are good at multiple roles must be part of decisions to recruitgoing forward. I wonder if he’s going to help Dekka in terms of recruitment too. Helps offset the Rendell loss as well as take the Walsh role.
I’m just curious about one thing, does anyone else think this might be a precursor to sacking Bucks? You know, all the rumours floating around for years saying Wright won’t come to pies as long as Bucks is there, he hates him etc.
Take your pick on rumours spartan - there were strong rumours going around in '18 that the players weren't playing for Buckley but the performance of that team under the utmost injury duress for the entire finals series makes those rumours a joke.Love the acquisition Loved graham Wright the player.

That’s a long bow.I wonder if this foreshadows a move for Clarkson. Clarkson is contracted at the Hawks until 2022.
Fairly sure Mitchell is being groomed as Clarkson’s successor, so it might not be such a long bow. That’s a long bow.
Be that as it may, I doubt Wright’s appointment has anything to do with a plan to offer Clarkson the coaching job.Fairly sure Mitchell is being groomed as Clarkson’s successor, so it might not be such a long bow.
