I'll put factions, rules etc up later when I get a chance

Spoiler: The rules - read them

Basic rules:

Roles will be randomly assigned and communicated via PM (except villagers). The villagers must identify and kill all players not aligned with the village before these players can kill enough villagers to satisfy their win condition. Only one faction can win the game.

Each day will consist of two phases:

Night phase (9:00pm – 9:00am AEST)
Players with night actions will nominate targets via PM during this phase. Nominations will not be accepted after 9:00am whether or not deadline has been announced.

Day phase (9:00am – 9:00pm AEST)
After the results of night actions have been announced all players will publicly vote to lynch one player during this phase. Votes will not be accepted after 9:00pm whether or not deadline has been announced.

May vary depending on my workload, commitments etc but please get your actions in early.

Voting:

DAY PHASE VOTING
All votes and change of votes must be bolded and the mod tagged, it makes it so much easier to search and see votes. If your vote is not bolded it will not be counted. You do not have to provide a reason for your vote for it to be valid.

No multi lynching, in the case of a tied vote the lynch will be determined by coin toss.

DISCUSSING THE GAME

While the game is running players are not permitted to discuss the game anywhere but in this thread, the Dead PM or PM’s related to this game, if you have one. Posting screenshots and quoting PM’s are prohibited. Players caught breaching these rules will be modkilled without warning and will be abused relentlessly in the dead PM.

Deleting or editing your posts in the game at any time will result on in a modkill. You can post screen shots, logos, words etc but just don't be a dick and delete/ edit your posts outside of the few moments you get before the post will display as edited.

Other Modkillable offences:

• Failing to nominate a night action on TWO separate Night phases
• Failing to vote in TWO separate Day phases

DEAD PLAYERS

Players who are killed are permitted to post a farewell post provided that it does not impact the game (eg. “thanks for the game” or “good luck”). Dead players must leave the game immediately and are not permitted to post or like posts in the game thread or any PM they are a part of (except the Dead PM) until the end of the game.

EVIL Factions

Mafia
Mafia will consist of four players
Godfather - Night Immune. Seers as villager; Gets a seer each night.
Goon - assists with kills
Random mafia roles - All other mafia members will be assigned random mafia roles from the below examples

Underboss - Upon the death of the Godfather assumes their position

Bruiser - survives first lynch or night kill attempt (next highest voted player dies instead)

Roleblocker - picks one player to block all night actions from - for the purpose of roleblock faction kills are performed by the lowest surviving member of that faction

Blackmailer - picks one player each night who must then vote for the player they are told to or be killed, cannot target the same player on consecutive nights

Intimidator - sets one player a posting challenge for the next day, this could be anything game related but does not include the players vote, mod has final say on whether the intimidation can be submitted. failure to complete the intimidation results in death, cannot pick the same player on consecutive nights

Wincon - All other evil and neutral factions eliminated, equal or outnumber the village

Wolves
Wolves will consist of four players

Alpha - Night Immune. Seers as villager; Gets a seer each night.
Wolf - assists with kills

Random wolf roles - All other wolves will be assigned random mafia roles from the below examples

Beta - Upon death of the Alpha assumes there position

Manipulative - secretly changes one players vote the next day, cannot target the same player on consecutive nights

Mother - Can protect (from kill actions only)one player, cannot pick the same player on consecutive nights. Can self protect

Rabid wolf - Once per game can choose to bite another player, if the bite is successful a coin toss will decide whether the target dies or joins the wolves faction.

Sly wolf - Remains in human form at night so always seers as villager, assists with kills



Wincon - All other evil and neutral factions eliminated, equal or outnumber the village

Neutral Faction

Two of the below roles are in the game

Serial Killer - Night Immune, seers as villager, each night gets one kill
Wincon - Survive to final four

Arsonist - Night immune, seers as vilager, each night can choose to douse a player or ignite any previously doused players
Wincon - Survive to final four

Head Vampire - Can recruit on odd nights and kill on even nights. Maximum faction size is 4 players. Seers as villager; Night Immune. Recruits will seer as vampires and are not night immune. If head dies vamps can continue to kill but cannot recruit.
Wincon - All other evil and neutral factions eliminated, equal or outnumber the village

Doppleganger - Choose one player before the game to take the role of when they die. Once that player dies the doppleganger will take on their wincon and any powers they have, but will not join any faction PMs

Wincons - Survive to the final 4 as doppleganger/wincon of role they take over


Good Faction
Flogs - 3 players that share a PM and have a one off seer, protect and kill
Seer - Can seer a player of their choice each Night Phase; always gets the true result (except where noted in a role description); cannot seer them self.
Vigilante - Each night phase, can kill a player of their choice.
Doctor - Each night phase, can protect (from kill actions only) a player of their choice. Cannot protect the same target on consecutive nights.


3 of the below roles will be in the game, all other players without roles will be villagers

Town Drunk - MUST either Kill, Protect (from kill actions only), Roleblock or Seer a player each Night Phase, but either the target or the action will be randomised.

Bodyguard - Choose a player to protect each night; If that player is targeted with a kill action, Bodyguard dies instead and so does the person who targeted them (cannot guard the same player in consecutive Night Phases). Cannot self-protect.

Jack Of All Trades - Can either Kill , Protect (from kill actions only), Roleblock or Seer a player each Night Phase (can't use the same action on consecutive nights). Must use all actions before using one for a second time.

Watcher - Chooses a player each Night Phase and is told who targeted their chosen player with a Night Phase action (if anyone), but not what the action was

Tracker - Chooses a player each Night Phase and is told who the chosen player targeted with a Night Phase action (if anyone), but not what the action was

Bus Driver - Chooses two players to switch at night, so any actions targeted on one player will instead be targeted at the other (and vice versa)

Mayor - Their lynch vote each Day Phase is worth two votes

Local Celebrity - Due to their popularity, starts each Day Phase with minus one (-1) lynch votes

Wincon - all evil and neutral factions eliminated


Amulet - Randomly handed out at the start of the game, protects against all night actions and lynching. Must be passed on before the end of the next day or it will be randomised. Can only be passed within a faction once. At some point will explode killing the holder

Phase Summaries
Night One

While most of the village slept, not everyone was in bed, and not all of them were up to anything good.

The Godfather had called in a debt, the owner was unable to pay and a message needed to be sent. A wiseguy delivered the message, two bullets to the chest of the unlucky victim.

Elsewhere in town bloody paw prints tracked away from an open door, come morning the village would find a mauled corpse inside.

After the bodies were found the village gathered in the square and argued over who to blame

In the end they settled on a member of the town accused by another.

As they executed him a gun shot was heard and another member of the village fell to the ground dead.

Night Two
With the surprise death at the end of yesterday not many in the village slept soundly. Doors were locked and windows were blocked in the hope that trouble would find an easier target.

The Godfather wanted this town brought to heel, he sent his goon out to send a message and come morning that message was received loud and clear.

The Alpha wanted the pack to rule from the shadows and wanted to blind seeing eyes.

Elsewhere someone forgot to close their curtains......

Day Two
A long day of arguing led to what most considered a foregone conclusion

The town had gotten their man, or so they thought

Night Three

The Godfather didn't appreciate the enemies of the mafia getting patched up, what was the point of putting holes in someone if they weren't going to bleed out? It was time to do something about it.

The Alpha wanted revenge for losing a member of the pack and called a hunt to bring down dangerous game.

A member of the neighborhood watch had decided it was time to stop watching and start acting, he took his gun and went and knocked on the door of a villager in need of killing

Day Three
A close day where the village couldn't decide who should lead saw a back and forth between two

The village was quiet, too quiet. Gun shots were heard but when people rushed to where the sound came from they found no bodies.

Suddenly a bright flash of light followed by the sound of thunder

Day Four

Overwhelming favourite wins first place

Night Five

Is it still really a village with only 10 people left? Let's go with hamlet for something different.

Late at night in the hamlet nefarious criminals and bloodthirsty lycanthropes stalked the night, not a lot of them, but then there wasn't a lot of anyone left at this point after 4 bloody nights and days.

With no godfather left the wiseguys were wondering if they could still take over, while the pack was hoping their jaws would be enough to finish off whoever was left alive

Come morning two more bodies were found bringing the population of our little hamlet down to 8, which could be a big family but in this case wasn't

Everyone was looking at each other like this

eventually though a name was chosen and that person was exectuted

I want to be Hans Bethe who developed the mathematical technique to solve quantum many body problems exactly.

I want to be Hans Bethe who developed the mathematical technique to solve quantum many body problems exactly.

His technique was used to Heisenberg's spin chain model (which was also shown to solve Linus Pauling's ice-type model), and he didn't think about it again. 30 odd years later, it was found to be useful for a whole class of exactly solvable (integrable) models, and developed its own field of literature. He worked on other things for the rest of his career though (was one of the huge names working on the Manhattan Project).

I was at a conference in honour of 75 years since his paper in 2006, where someone mentioned that they had spoken with Bethe earlier on, and asked how it felt to have started a whole new area in physics with the Bethe ansatz, and he replied "The Bethe what???"
