Geelong's bigger bodies will prove to be the major difference this Saturday.

I would be definately targeting the Burgoynes and Pearce for some of the rough-stuff.

The Cats must take advantage of their inside 50's, it almost cost them the game against the Pies.

grand final - the first 20 minutes

reckon the start is ultra ultra important - if we have the lead after first 20 minutes have every confidence we will win.

My concern is if we fall behind early fear may set in.

I could be wrong but of our 4 losses this year - I think they were cases of trailing early and not being able to bridge the gap

I had a hunch this may be B/S... so I checked the average player weight from the sides that played in round 21...

Geel 89 kg

Hardly enough to make a difference there....there are much more important factors, such as intensity.

If we go by the 2004 GF, Yablett might get some ball, but Bartel is in for a tough day. Though I think Dom has improved since then

2004 GF was

Kornes on Black: Black 15 posessions (2003 GF, Black 39 posessions).

Dom on Lappin: Lappin had about 25.

How is that relevant ?

Those guys arent even playing in this game and even if they were ever game is different and played on its merits.

I'm glad you did look it up. Seems to be a lot of team stats floated around are BS. That stat is like the which side is younger stat for most teams there is only a matter of months in it so the premiership windows for each team must be about the same. BTW "premiership window" is another term I hate who says a team is limited to 3 years (or what ever it is) to win a premiership?

Personally I think Rooke is a touch over rated. A lot of talk about how tough he is etc but didnt impress much on Friday night. He made a few mistakes and didnt go at it hard enough for mine (except when Maxwell stopped him dead). Cornes would be way to good for Rooke, I don't think he really has a good match up option and for me seems a weak link. Hunt may also struggle. Is their anyone in the VFL who could do a job shutting down a port mid or half forward?

Totally agree. I also think we are really going to miss Egan on Saturday, we need a big, strong body against the Port boys.

I think its going to be a close one (hopefully not as close as the Collingwood game - I dont think my heart could handle it haha), but I'm tipping Geelong by 11.

Another positive i see for the cats is......although named in the best last week i thought SJ was relatively quiet AND he has been all finals series.
Another player is chappy, yes he was dominant against the kanga's (who was'nt) and chipped in with a couple against the pies so his importance to the side with SJ & stoksey playing his part are so important to moons success and our forwardline line structure.
What it will come down to is nailing opportunities when given and SJ & chappy will rise to the occasion.

This is how i see it,

We target Pearce and Tredrea, There is no doubt in my mind that Pearce is an extremely talented footballer but i have watched alot of Port this year, due to them having a lot of pay tv games, and i still think that he may be a bit short in the ticker department. This is where we use Maxxy. Now maybe the opposition supporters dont but all Geelong supporters know how tough this bloke is, forget about last week he got a couple of hits early and wasn't himself but although he wasn't great get ready for him to have a big impact this week. If he can put some early physical pressure on not only Pearce but guys like the Burgoynes and Rodan it could go a long way to minimising their impact on the game.

Tredrea speaks for itself really, he is clearly a weakness in the Port side and no matter what anyone says there is no possible way he is fully fit. This is where we use either Scarlett or Milburn, whoever bomber decides is the man for the job, to exploit Tredrea like Scarlett exploited Rocca last week but 5 times as much, bugger shutting down Port because they are "quick" lets see how accountable they really are with Scarlett, Milburn, Mackie, Hunt, Wojcinski and Enright all making them chase them to the centre of the ground and beyond
