Movie Grease

One of those films which I can't help but watch when I stumble upon them randomly, as I did tonight. On TV1 as we speak.

Hard to believe there wasn't already a thread for it.

Probably one of my top 10 favourite films of all time.

Seriously, what's not to like?

Agreed ... IMO 'Grease' is to movies what 'Summer of 69' (Bryan Adams) is to music... both overrated IMO but others love just to sing along to.

My familiarity with this movie is due to my sister...so I have a certain soft spot for it because of nostaligia reasons but I can't say I'd ever get a craving to watch it by myself

Yeah pretty much, it's cheesy and corny but it's enjoyable if you haven't seen it in years.

I'm not big on musicals, but I do enjoy this one. Probably woudn't own it on DVD, but will watch it all the way through if i find it on telley.

used to watch this quite often as a kid and i am like the OP, if i stumble across it ill usually watch some or most of it. Just a classic show. Dare say kids of late 90's onwards wouldnt really enjoy it.

My favorite characters were always the 'other' tbirds. Just funny lines they have.

Love it. When I was younger me and my cousin would have a hit of cricket, play video games then watch two movies (mostly these two) grease and willy wonka. So any time it's on I'll sit down and watch it, as I did the other night. Still know most of the words, not that I sang along...

It's not bad - some of the songs aren't up to scratch, but most are. You can't walk out of a drive in! I also love the Sandy song at the end when the hot dog jumps into the bun. Amazing.

As far as musicals go though, nothing beats Rocky Horror.

Ah, I understand, you put Grease 2 along with Plan 9 on the folllowing diagram. Highlander 2, however, is right down there with the SWHS.

There was some talk of doing a 3rd one set in a 1970s school reunion setting at Rydel featuring cast from the 1st which would have featured Travolta and Olivia. Not sure what came of it.
