Borrowed off the main board, can people remember great games by a single player in a winning or losing side ?

I was pondering some but i can't get the dates right anyway.

I was think Roo v Carlton and the Paps and D Jarman in the GF's and 97 Prelim, anyone have any other memories of stand out performances over the last 15 years ?

Roo vs. the PAPS when we were something like 40 odd points down during the 3rd quarter he single handily dragged us back into the game by getting 40 odd touches and kicked 3 or 4 goals.

Mods Vs North Melbourne in 1993 – forgetting that mark he also kicked a lazy 10 that night on shinboner of the he century.

Benny Hart vs. Gary Ablett – Gazza kicked 10 but Benny Hart still got votes. Truly marvelous effort. :D

Don't know about that game, but he did kick 7.6 against them in 98.

Some other game sthat stand out to me:

Modra 94 v Carlton kicked 13 on the fullback of the century

Mcleod 7 goals and Robran 6 in 98 prelim v the dogs

Theres been many a great individual performance since our club began in 1991. Some that spring to mind are -

Mods Vs Richmond at FP in 1993. We smashed them sure but 13 goals is a great effort.

Peter Caven GF 1998. The King looked like tearing us a new one 10 minutes in but then Caven proceeded to do the tearing.

D Jarman PF 1997. What more can be said really.

Roo Vs Carlton OO 2001. I have seen many a wet weather footy game (you know before it stopped raining) and im yet to see a better one than the great man played that day.

Along with the other games people have mentioned these all bring back great memories and are some of the reasons why we love this club.

Rutten v Tredrea 2005 SF. After being named AA fullback, smashed Tredrea, kept him goaless, and the cream on the cake was to kick his own goal.

How did it take this long for someone (myself included) to mention that ?? I guess he's smashed him so often we just take it for granted nowadays :D

I remember Scott Hodges kicking an absolute bag against geelong one day at footy park, may have been 9 or 10 goals. prob remember because i could never stand the bloke.

What about Mark Viska coming back on against Sydney hardly being able to walk and kicking a couple of goals (i think we won)
that was pretty impressive stuff.

You'd have to put Bernie Vinces effort in the showdown this season up as a impressive effort for in the tri-colours as well.

Edit (i added his name)

93 and yes we did win, the match Matty Robran completely smashed his leg up in. Didn't they have the sprinklers running five minutes before the game or something? Thank god those dodgy days are gone.

is still one of my all time fave crows player, and was from that game on.

17 disposals, 13 marks, 11.4 goalkicking and the 3 Brownlow Votes against that year's Minor Premiers and Grand Finallists.

You often see things written on BigFooty by people who never saw him play or have heard things second hand that lead them to parrot assumptions that he was the prototype that Daniel Schell, Adam Richardson and Troy Wilson followed - ie, a dominant SANFL/WAFL spearhead who couldn't make the step up due to a lack of ability.

The phrase "could've been anything" is thrown around altogether too much these days, but in Scott Hodges you have the posterboy for the concept.

loved wet games, seemed to be a muddy ground specialist.

Would Shane Ellens GF rate a mention ? it was one of his best games ever at the highest stage

I think it does because anyone who can kick 5 goals in a GF and it helps us win the game – automatically makes it a special performance.

5 goals in a normal game isn’t that special but in a GF it certainly is.

yeah fair call

I can remember a game that Simon Tregenza played in the mid 90's from memory he was playing wing and kicked 1.12
dominated the play, I reckon it was against the WCE.

I was at the Melbourne v Adealide QF in 03 the first and last quarters contained brilliant football by the crows
I have never seen a replay and always wondered who was the driving force behind the 4th quarter comeback.

Always thought it must have Been burton or Stevens but it didn't even make the radio on the drive back so we
never really heard.

Surly not – your must be making a mistake. 1.12 FFS – that’s outrageous

Just going by memory – I would say Mark Stevens.

yep did my research - Trengenza never got close the guy struggled to kick goals at all - his worst ever was 1.4 against some other team, so god knows what i'm thinking of.

From a regular senior player we have had on our list he would be the worse kick ever.

1.4 – back in the early days 1.4 from Tregenza may have felt like 1.12 – especially at Windy Hill, Morrabin, Victoria Park or Kardinia Park. We were smashed everytime.

If only those ankles held up.

Him and Modra would of been a force...Well Modra was anyway.

That was the 02 Semi Final at the MCG the one that should have been played here, one of my all time favourite Crows games and being at the ground the whole team lifted but there were two moves that really won it for us, Biglands on Neitz who was killing us but then only kicked one goal after that and the champ Andy Mac being moved up forward, the Demons defence didn't know what the hell to do!

Beinke kicked some good goals in that match, but early.

Mark Stevens took control at CHF in the last from memory.

I call it the forgotten final.
