Given we've just been towelling up sides lately and handled Geelong comfortably, this was probably the result we needed, very similar to Geelong 2007 when they just went down in round 21.

People will blab on a about conversion, Harry getting tagged, no-one playing on Johncock, low intensity etc., but sometimes you got to win when things are up the s**t and the opposition is on and the umpires don't pay anything. Yep, a lot like a tough final. And we found a way out.

Felt good to actually play a last quarter where we controlled it with the pressure on.. Be nice for some players to kick the easy ones though.

Really our first poor effort since the Melbourne game. And with the Bulldogs losing Cooney and Hudson for our first final most likely, and we get through injury free again it has ended up being a pretty good night.

Let's just hope that it was a wake up call for them and they get their heads back in it.

This, I saw Cooney go down, and I feel really bad for him, but Cooney out is a huge gain for him.

Hudson got reported? (Havn't seen the footage) but from all reports is gone and Morris did his shoulder late in the game. Add Johnson and Higgins to that as well.

We are in the perfect position to win the first final now against a Dogs side making up the numbers.

Congratulations on eeking out the win - and I never thought I'd say it but you are worthy minor premiers. However, for your team this was also a wake-up call. An example:

Will Young - 2nd AFL game ever. Harry O'Brien - second lowest possession total in 103 career games.

Oh and ETA your lowest half time score this season.

Good luck for the finals - you thoroughly deserve it - but IMO learn some humility as well - it will take you far. In fact I hope you don't - you'll be impossible to beat if you do. We may have had a shocker of a season but that is no reason to disrespect any side out of the 8 - its how good sides come a cropper.

Best for the rest of the season.

congrats to collingwood for winning the minor premieirship and tonights game, wasnt pretty but too good for us in the end, perfect slugfest for you guys heading into the finals,. typical maggies vs crows game, form goes out the window they are always tough games
heres from one crows supporter hoping you guys go on to win the big one, much respect considering you are a team similar to ours that has bucked the trend of tanking over the years and keeps putting out a top quality side year after year ( although weve been poor this year). rebuilding is a word not used at our clubs, good luck maggies :thumbsu:

Yep sorry guys - its contagious!:D

Crows played well, we played rubbish. Yet we still won (although i don't think we really deserved it, our goal kicking was terrible again).

Still a tough gutsy win is pretty nice heading into the finals, toughen them up a bit.

It surprises me that anyone is "shocked by the type of game we saw tonight.

The Crows beat Geelong only 4 weeks ago and I'll be very interested to se how they go against the Saints next week.

In the end the 4 points were earned no matter how. Better than Geelong could do.

If you ignore both teams form prior to tonight, you would have to say the Crows pressure was intense. They were bloody good and took it right up to us.

They pushed a team cruising at the top of the ladder to their limits.

As someone wrote earlier, they out Collingwooded Collingwood.

Getting top spot sewn up was crucial. Next week against Hawthorn is no sure thing, so good to get it done tonight. Playing the Dogs is 100x better than playing the Saints.

I have to agree.

Craig had a good tactic.
Always Pies v Crows games are tight affairs, regardless of ladder position.

we play like this, we lose our next three!! game over 2010!

We won

You are only as good as the opposition lets you.

We were down on form tonight in some vital areas but full credit to Adelaide for taking the game right up to us.

People say when you have won so many in a row a loss doesn't hurt well last night was as good as a loss for us. We played terrible nothing went right for us the only could thing was we won. MM will be treating this like a loss in the review this week. No one could out of the game happy just because we won MM will put the spot light on our mistakes and remind them that if you are off you game just a little you will lose.

I agree its a great result in the end.

8 more scoring shots, any of those go through and we win by 5 or 6 goals and this thread possibly wouldnt be going. But in a way im glad it ended up the way it did so we can all have a good look at the situation. Would hate to go into the finals wining the last 6 games by 60points. Think we would be to cocky and get flogged.

Bit different to playing Adelaide at their home ground buddy, rather than playing the at skilled.

Congrats on winning the minor premiership by the way & see you sometime next month no doubt.

Maybe we started to taper the last week or 2 and going to Sorrento probley contributed to our poor performance last night. I am happy that we got a bit of a wake up call yeserday and next i am sure next week we will come out firing against the hawks. I rekon it will be a similar game to yesterdays becuase they set a very similar zone.

Sorry can't let that one go - Geelong are a top 4 side and until very recently were looking like minor premiers and you use the excuse of playing at AAMI against a sub-8 side for a loss?? And after the Kiddie Crows terrific performance at the MCG last night? A truly professional top 4 side wins at home and away without excuse... and I have to say many of you Vic sides need to fix your away game vulnerability ... or travel a bit more... one of the two...

(Flame suit on!)
