El Galo tonight. Been backing him for a while now and he has done well for me. Will be on him again tonight.

I did well out of El Galo tonight as well, he increased the odds I got on Velocette!!!

In all fairness I've done well by backing El Galo on previous occasions and I had a saver on him tonight because he's a champion and you can never discount them. I also had a saver on Victory Time @ $55.00 who did nothing but came out of it well ahead.

Anyone remember a dog by the name of Mancunian Girl?

I have a funny story. One night at Mooney Valley trots, i was walking past the bookmakers on the second floor and i saw a line. EVERY single dude was on her and the bookie refused to budge her price from 6/4... Anyways she had box 6 and the NSW dog (the race was up there) had a better box and shared favouritism.

To cut a long story short, she dashed to the front and that was that. After the race there was a line 20 deep and every one of us was on her! haha .. I was underage back then but noone cared, doubt they care now either. Was a great night, never forget that moment.

I know the owner/trainer of Mancunian Girl, Stan Wardle. He's one of the sport's gentlemen. He's still involved and has a pup out of a litter we bred, named Regal Blaze, who will do ok for him.

Went to The Meadows last night, was a great night.

Won the Australian Cup which was good with Velocette. I found it hard to go past El Galo, but I found myself wanting to. Good field, speedy types in the race and I thought if anyone could beat El, it'd be Velocette. Once El Galo ran straight to the lead holding the rails run, I was a little concerned. But around the 350m mark, I knew I was in with a show. Velocette was hot on El's heels, and looked hungry for the win. Gave a great site in the straight, zoomed past El Galo and never looked back. Could watch that race another fifty times.

When you go to The Meadows, they give you a chance to win a $1000 free bet or a $100 free bet. You put your entry into the barrel and they draw names out. I didn't get drawn out, but my money was on Velocette with both. Each way $500 bet, and each way $50 bet. Would've been a dream come true getting called out, but meh, I'm happy with a win in a major nonetheless.

Talking earlier about best greyhound wins, a heat in the Horsham Cup in '05 has to win it. Whisky Assassin gets troubled three quarters of the way, then puts the after burners on with some extra gas and boy did he end up winning with ease. My favourite win of my short greyhound following years.

Maitland Race 7 #4 BIG TEE MAC and #7 MISS SISSY have both run sub 30 at The Gardens recently while most of the field have been running at non-tab events.

This is over 400m so if they are anywhere near at the start of the race they should prove too strong for this lot.

Am dutching and taking a quinella.

Sandown Race 5
#4 TIZZ MAGIC - Good record over here with 50% place s/r and has been in form of late with a strong last start run at Cranbourne in a good time. Is up against an inconsistent bunch so should prove too strong for these if given clear running room to first bend.

#7 SHOOTING STAR - Always races modestly and could be the one to spring a surprise. Value has been taken out in the last few races so might be a bit short here.

#8 CASH EXPRESS - Star performer having third run back from a long spell. If returns to best should be too classy.

#2 STONE COLD SOBER - Has faced some handy types recently and should appreciate the draw. Might not have the outright pace to win in a true race, but is definately worth including here.

Lets try and explain a few things here as we go along.

Ipswich Race 1

#1 BLACK OCTANE - has run 25.50s over this trip recently but hasn't been able to win when well backed. 25.50s are good times for this maiden field. Drawn the red and should be odds on.

You would be pretty hard pressed to find anything to beat BLACK OCTANE.

#8 PURCHASE ORDER - is in a strong kennel and is reasonably well bred with the dam being a city winner at ALbion Park in good time. Drawn to get a clear run and this is a weak maiden to debut, so should place.

#7 SMOKEY MACOOL - was near the 31.00 mark on debut at Albion park over the 520m, so if lobs near the lead should have the staying power to figure in the finish. Was well backed last start when finishing a solid second.

#3 FULL ON FIASCO - only throwing this selection in for the quinella's based on race experience. Might come in handy against this field.

The favourites were knocked out of the race and the 7 died in its run while the 3 was pretty weak. Left out the 5 AYANA for race experience of the 3. Move on.

The Gardens Race 2

#2 BEARS ARE BACK - has broken 30sec at Gardens twice recently. Although I must say times have been fairly quick lately at the this track lately. Doesn't have the best of records at the track too. So might be weary betting the shorts. Could be a possible lay bet at the right odds.

#7 SHADY CHARACTER - running good times and should appreciate the outside draw. Goes well over this trip too 6/8 placings.

Shady Character won at $10 or thereabouts. Bears Are Back was only conservatively backed on betfair. With the late money coming for the 5 after comments on SKY about it being $2.80 in the ring. Ran second and ruined the quinella.

Traralgon Race 3 298m

Ping and win is what its all about.

#8 IMA TORPEDO - broke 17s over this trip which is no mean feat. Last year only 4 dogs or thereabouts broke 17s. Drawn perfectly. Hard to beat.

#4 DARK SECRET - Honest chaser over this distance and has been back to form lately. There could be trouble as #3 tends to like the outside. But other than that, there isn't a great deal of pace on the inside.

#6 RESETTLED - Racing well at Cranbourne in decent company and always tends to be at the front in races. Should be thereabouts in this.

#2 BAD BOY BILLY - Has to be included on recent runs. If under $4.50 is definately a laying proposition.

But this race looks a favourites race, and the F4 for evens 2,4,6,8 could pay around $50-$100 depending on order.

Ipswich Race 3 #7 GLEN ROWAN will be a win bet this time around as I feel the #3 BROAM will be big unders based on two wins which arn't that strong.

Quinella with #6, #5, #4 in that order.

Leaving out the possible favourite. And will be laying if can get $2.50 or under.

#2 SHEOAK IN won a Ballarat qualy in 25.49 and then won over this trip in 30.82 after a slow first split of 5.30. Will provide some good odds and boost the quinella.

#7 CRANITA is what you can a cat. Fails to chase. But you have to include based on last start 30.28 win over this trip. Far better time than any other runner has run.

Top selection won at $8. No quinella as the CAT cost us with the 6 coming second.

#3 PUNK PLATINUM can muster early speed to lead this field and from there will take plenty of catching as ran 30.40 on debut over this trip. In the strong Auld camp. If you can get $3-$3.50 then you are shopping well here.
