Really disappointed in Armageddon in Race 6. Got very uninterested when it didn't get onto the bunny. Would of had a nice profit from that race if he placed.

Ok, still looking for that edge that Oaks always talked about. Got a few thoughts on the Maiden Races looking at the characteristics of the winners.

Sure, Breeding is a factor, and some are bred impeccably and you cannot look past them, but backing such a runner at $1.80 is not value, you do not have an edge, anything can happen because it has not been tested in race conditions as of yet. This is where I think there might be an advantage, especially in maiden races of looking for the dogs who have run 2 or 3 races and have improved significantly. for example, race 1 today at sale sir stackalot wins at $20, now, his first 2 runs have been less than impressive however he shaved .6 of a second of his first run at traralgon, and taking the dog to sale to race would suggest that it has improved further. There are numerous other examples of the dogs improving over 2 or 3 runs and then winning at odds of over $5. This is where I am stuck, what differentiates the dogs which win after improving and the dogs that go backwards? if anyone has any thoughts that would help that would be great.

Maiden Races are where the edge will be found IMO, as alot of punters will have a crack just because it is something to punt on before the real races are run where form and experience actually play a part

I usually put maiden races in the "too hard" basket, but if I have to have a punt (ie Im drunk or bored), I will go with the late money.

I don't think I have bet on a Maiden in weeks.

I did normally like to back those who had run before, but hadn't broke through ... but those debutants are always way too unpredictable.

ok looking at geelong tommorow, 4 maiden races

Race 1
2 caught my eye here
Bowstreet Royale- looked to be building towards a win before taking a fall, looks to be showing improvement.

Darlington Brute***- this is the one i think split times solid enough based on last run to match the favourite, ran a much improved race second start, will look for $10-12

Race 2

Good Fella Lui- looks to be crying out for a little bit more distance, has improved steadily last run, looks ready to win i think

*hard to see the 2 lose though

Race 3

Leisure Laurie- likes the 430-460m races from the looks of it, will be running on and in contention, hopefully at a good price.

Race 4
was looking at bonrain, but prefer over shorter.

Girl Scout has to be a big chance, improving steadily and tommoro is as good a chance as any to break the maiden
