I was worried that the club was going to burn him out by using only one real ruckman. He has looked better now that he has some backup. A really consistent player who is getting better.

I think 211 should be tried in the goal square with Ballas, Mayne and Walters at his feet.

Griffin in his current form, Sandi at his best, Zac if he fulfills his potential and if Hannath can slowly improve, I believe we may go close to having the strongest Ruck combination in the comp. Obviously can't all play at the same time but gives us depth to cover any injuries.

Griff is a monster. It's fairly hard to imagine playing Sandi, Clarke and Griff in the same team (it's been done), but all three are so important.

It's no fluke that Griff kicked 3 goals on Sat, the man is deadly accurate under pressure. In terms of form you'd favour a Sandi/Griff combo... although Clarke had several moments of genius in 2011. It'll be interesting to see if Clarke gets a run in before Sandi returns; more than likely as Sandi's off until at least the bye. All in all I'm starting to get slightly more and more comfortable with the idea of the big fella hanging up the size 14's(?) one day...

Sandi and Griff during finals will be mouthwatering

Sandi does need to attend the Silvagni school of shirtfronts and 'hey did you see him headbutt me umpire? no no my head was not in his face' :P

Very impressed with this man. An absolute champ how did we get him in the first place?
Has been brilliant in sandi's absence. Very well spoken after the match also.

Love Griff. Severely underrated and I prefer him over Sandi. Great with his tapwork but useful around the ground as well. I always thought Sandi handballed the footy off way too much, and his height just made him anonymous in open play. But Griff constantly stands up and plays good football. One o' my faves.

Griff has been on fire so far this season.
He has nearly been handling the ruck duties single handily and still managed to be dangerous for a full four quarters around the ground and snagging a few important goals. This man is an absolute monster.

I look forward to seeing the tandem work of Griff and Sandi later in the season, Sandi can be gently eased back into AFL footy with the form Griff is showing.

On the flipside I hae to say I am really also enjoying seeing Hannath get a run and do some really good things.
Ruck stocks are looking pretty damn good.

I think some people are forgetting how good Sandi is at his best.
Remind me how many times Sandi's gone forward and kicked three?

He hasn't, however that is hardly the measure of his overall impact.

But to play your game, he has kicked 2 goals on 9 occasions.

Yeah but he's not as instinctive as Griff. He needs to be coaxed, Griff makes his mind up and has a crack. Sandi will be helpful no doubt, but we are missing the Pav more than 211.

Was just about to mention that... he's been pretty regular at bobbing up for a goal every game, and sometimes two. Pretty reliable set shot too, surprisingly

We could play this game all day...

Sandi clearances for career....3.39per game
Griff " " " ... 1.45
Sandi contested poss 7.28
Griff 4.42

I could go on.

It's a shame Sandilands has had such a run of injuries. Over the last few years, it has been practically impossible for him to string a good run of games together. Don't send him back to mowing lawns just yet, I reckon he's got plenty more to give.

but yeah back on topic, Grif has been fantastic. He looks like he's building up his confidence too.

One little passage of play made me laugh out loud with the ridiculousness of it (and the awesomeness)...
- Balla running out from deep in our F50 and attempting to take a mark about 45 metres out, in the middle of the field.
- Defender closes the distance and easily spoils the mark. It spills forward.
- In the meantime Griff has gotten himself to the front and square position. Gobbles up the crumb with one grab. Takes a step or two and dobs an opportunists goal from about 50 metres out.

If that isn't an a*se-backward piece of casting, then I don't know what is. :D

Adelaide were very nice to us. Griff wanted to go back home as his old man was sick (I think). Adelaide let him go to us for a 3rd round pick as they wanted to make sure Griff could go.

Don't think they were at all happy with the pick that they got, but they wanted to do the right thing by him. Kind of like what happened with Roberton, except we got diddly there.

Was still pretty classy of Adelaide to do it though.

Griffin has been playing well. I like the way that the big man isn't afraid to get down on hands and knees and fight for the clearance when the ball is on the ground. :thumbsu:
