When has he given us more than Vickery? In about 2 games?
Griff gives more on the bench than Ty ever did on the ground. Watching Ty run 5 metres and waving his hands when he has 25+ metres of space to lead into was a joke. Hope griff gets consistent, stays on the park a lot more and delivers. After the sydeny game it was almost like he knew he belonged on the big stage.

And then didn't do anything for the rest of the year?

Good result. The Sydney game was enough to suggest, you play him deep without Vickery there, he can turn a game our way. Alternate the role with Jack.
Griff will always be one of those guys that manages to get injured, but hopefully he can manage 75%+ games as a minimum. He just needs to survive the preseason, so he gets the bulk of the conditioning done.

I have a feeling his highlight reel is going to show a pretty good player.
But over all he isnt that flash.
He just dosnt kick enough goals
Doesnt kick as many goals as Vickery but he is more willing to crash packs which can be as usefull, he looks like he will put on a lot more muscle than Vickery as well so should improve as a fwd and ruck.

Last time i checked he is only 24 - so for all you glass half empty so called supporters read what I just wrote

ONLY 24!!
This is what I was going to point out
He's deceptively young and we've already seen him start to take a few games by the scruff of the neck around the 50 game mark
He's still coming into his prime and been growing into his body, 25-30 years of age are always the best years for a 200cm player

We still need to draft a tall forward most likely with pick 6. I'd rather cut Elton and develop Chol and Moore in the reserves and see if they are good enough to hold onto. We should also trade for a tall defender from another club

Well done Griff! Enjoyed watching you demonstrate what you can bring to the tiger table. Expect a massive year next year.

I know the trend for KP players is to be lighter these days, but in Griffs case i'd like to see him add a bit more muscle. If he loses some endurance then so be it, i'd rather see extra strength in the one on one's and explosiveness coming out of the forward 50 from him.

I'm a bit meh with this signing. Yes he is probably our only option now Vickery is going but gee you would think the club could have shopped him about to gauge what other deals could have gone down. Have a feeling he will be delisted at the end of 2018. Our Recent drafting has saved his arse for now.

We could have Fev playing for us, he still goes for about 5k a game........

I still believe re-signing Griff would be an important part of our off season, he's an athletic 200cm 101kg mobile tall forward with a huge kick. Griff's issue has always been injury and confidence, we all know he can kick it 70m, we all know he has a big leap, we just haven't seen any consistency in it. If the big fella can cop a break with injury and continue to build his form, it'll go along way to seeing him live up to his billing.

He also needs to be given some license to use his boot, every time I see him tap a pass 20m when I know he can probably launch absolute darts over 40-50m, I'm always left a bit disappointed. Same deal when he marks on about 50-55m, he needs to stop passing and just take the set shot. I don't know whether he's been coached to do that, or whether it's a confidence thing, probably a little bit of column A and column B. One thing I've noticed about Oleg Markov, if he takes a mark on 50, that kid isn't afraid to line up the big sticks. Griff should be no different.

Anyway, if Griff can become that 40-60 goal a year forward for us, it'd go a long way to this list winning a final. Imagine a season where Jack isn't our most dangerous forward and opposition backmen are looking to stop someone else before Jack, we'd be a much better side.

Like many on here have said, Ben is 24, he's entering the prime of his career, losing him to another club would have been a big loss for us. We all know we wouldn't have gotten adequate return for what Ben could potentially be. We also know that he might never live up to expectation, but considering where the club is at the moment, we need players like Ben to make it if we're to see finals football anytime soon.

Agree on having a ping from 50. Dusty used to fire at will also but it's become pretty rare of late.
If it was my game plan and the f50 was clogged with defenders I'd be flipping it to griffo or dusty, or markov etc to fire away.
I understand the problem with kicking a point and handing the ball over, but it beats the shit out of "creating a stoppage"

I must admit I have a man-crush on big Griff. He's big, mobile, a good kick, clunks marks and has a good leap. Athletes like him are rare as rocking horse shit. He's overcome serious injury concerns (remember the glass shoulders) and built consistency and more hardness into his game. He has massive upside if his development keeps trending upwards.

The great white hope.
