Griffs Injury

Club is waiting on scans tomorrow. Based on the fact that he has a history of shouolder dislocations, i would suggest the club would not play him again this season. With this, i wouldnt be surprised if they bring in Post or Gourdis.

Good question Brickster, I was also wondering about this. However, I think if we're thinking long term it would be a lot more effective for the club to just cotton wool him now for the rest of the season. We don't want to rush him back when he's not ready, this way he can get a full pre season in and be right for next year. He's had a good sniff of it this year and knows what its all about and he'll be hungrier than ever come round 1 2011. I'm hoping to see post come in and play his role for the remaining games this season and see what he's got.

On MMM Jacko said it wasn't the shoulder they had been watching in the pre season. So hopefully it's not too bad.

Why not?

It was his "good" shoulder, it did not need to be forced back in at all, I didn't see that it even completely come out. I think we just played it absolutely cautiously, as we should.

Given that, I'd hope it's as little as a shoulder strain after the scans and we see him again at Richmond or Coburg in 2-3 weeks.

I don't see the logic of sitting him out just because we are afraid of him getting injured, unless I'm reading your post wrong.

I reckon we should put Astbury down forward and Gourdis down back while he's gone.

Let his injury recover , then send him to the gym for 8 months, to bulk up !!
Meh, people are too obsessed with players bulking up. Being just 18 he will naturally bulk up if he sticks to a solid program. No need for a 100kg 18 year old to be locked up in the weight room.

Most of his time should be spent on his agility because too often when the ball hits the ground he is completely lost, which is a pity because he has the pace once he is up and his the footy to run with it with speed and dispose effectively.

Reported on Sports Tonight that the injury wasn't as bad as first thought. Still it provides a perfect opportunity to bring Gourdis/Post in for a month to see what they can do, in fact I wouldn't mind seeing Griffiths have the rest of the year off.

if he's not injured then he should be playing at Coburg, whilst Goo, Mcgaune or even Post return to the seniors

Thats what I meant Bo, he has had a taste, now send him back and give the other 2 a chance to show what they can do in the last 7 weeks. 4 weeks for the Goo & 3 weeks for Post.

i agree with this but why not both. play post forward and give gourdis a go at fb.
much better structure and flexability with gourdis thursfield astbury as the talls and deledio moore newman and connors as rebounders.. all of gourdis astbury post can play forward if need be and one can be rotated of the bench either forward or back.
sooner or later we will have to find a big bodied kpd, better sooner while we are in early development.
i still believe browne should be given some games as well. did graham pull up clear of injury.

I reckon Astbury has played better in defense. Bring in Post, of if Astbury has to move forward, McGuane has to come back in.
