I wonder what button has to be pressed to get some mongral in him.
With his build, he should be destroying every opponent.
I hated Carey but if Clokey could get 20% of Carey's arrogance he would be unstoppable !
I want a mean machine out there, someone prepared to just run through the opposition...
what do the rest of you think ?
 
Agree. Its been an ongoing problem since Rocca too in my opinion who was too much of a nice bloke for his own good. Even when he tried to mongrel it up it just came off as fake.
 
I think he's been fine. If only he could kick the ball. If you could combine Trav's marking with Dawes' boot, you'd have a top 5 player in the AFL.

Of course combine Dawes marking with Trav's boot, and you'd have a delistee. :eek:
 
Pretty average thread. Trav has a personality, and can't change it. It's the same with everyone in all walks of life, in any profession. He's not Carey, he's not anyone else. I wish he was Carey, but he's Travis Cloke and I appreciate what he does with what he has.
Questioning the courage of AFL players has never sat comfortably with me either. To even go out there takes a fair bit of it, and while Travis isnt a Jonathon Brown type kamikaze, I've never thought of him as "Jane", and often uses he bulk to monster opponents when he can.
It's not as if he's playing on short people, and the current rules make it difficult for a strong player to use his strength like they could in the past.
The main issue will always be his kicking accuracy, not his arrogance or courage, imo.

I think Dawes marking has been Quite Good Since he came back from the VFL

This. Everyone, regardless of their size, has traits.

Trav's tackling and running courage is sensational. He's been marking the ball flat out and getting shoved to the ground for the last month, and his kicking has been in pretty good shape recently. Love this guy, when he tackles he hurts them.

Edit: I doubt Carey would be anywhere the same player these days with full zones and the need for him to have to put on tackling pressure.

magpielicious, you have just wasted 3 minutes of all our time. He is probably the hardest tackler in the side for starters...aghh this is ridicouloous even responding!
 
Just because you don't agree with someones comments doesn't mean their thread is crap ! If you are happy for CLoke to keep doing what he is doing then fine. If I wan't him to show some aggression then that's my opinion.

You are entitled to your opinion but in my opinion, you are WRONG... just plain wrong!!

I have actually thought he has improved out of site with his aggression this year and the amount of times he has completely monstered his opponent has been incredible!

If you had a valid point, no matter how contentious then yes, I'd agree.

Cloke struggles to kick....etc etc., but you can't question his attack on the ball or his appetite for the contest.

He showed some aggression and will now spend a week at least knitting and hunting for berries.:rolleyes:

If I recall correctly, Brodie got 6 weeks for that hit... Now, would you want all of our players rubbed out each week would you?!

The biff is well and truly gone... Deal with it!
 
This is a horrible threAd! Trav is hard and not an idiot with his strength. He stuffed up on fri night and now we will struggle to get over the saints next week. I would prefer cloke to play the way he does and has been rather then 'show some mungrel' when he's clearly harder then just about any forward in the league, and get rubbed out like
Franklin every 2nd week. Hey mods can't u do something to make sure idiots don't make stupid idiotic threads???
