I've read with interest but not commented until now because most of you seem to had a reasonable assessment of where Guerra's career was at. I think the words 'poo' and 'unfulfilled potential' have been used at various points. However I thought I'd use dipper86's post as a reference to make my views known.

Not wrong. He was leaving whether he wanted to or not. I'm not sure if his contract with us was up when traded to the Saints (he may have had another year) but he was never going to get another one at Alberton. By the end of 2003 he wasn't even first 22 when Chocco had better options. Same as with Thomas at the Saints by the end of 2005.

Change 'reluctant' to 'relieved'. If he approached his career in a mature way he could have been a very good player. That is if he'd trained well, played consistently, lived a more moderate off-field lifestyle. But a player with his attitude as it was then is a cancer at a club. Based on his follow-up failure at St Kilda he'd have to go some way to convincing the ex Port people at Hawthorn of his having any value now.

He has never had a good year yet. He has had some speccy games for both teams, where he has been well supported. But he has had far too many where he has done nothing at all.

I would prefer to take another ex saint in the PSD, Cadyn Beetham. Adding a little bit of pace to our midfield couldn't hurt. He is still only 23 and if now dedicated he could be just what we need. A mature ready made quick who could fit straight in our side. He was a former top 10 pick in the national draft.

Beetham is intriguing, but too much of a risk for a club that is re-building from the bottom up.

At least Guerra who is the same age has been in the AFL system the entire time, and would be more able to contribute right from Round 1.

Besides, it looks like it is signed and sealed that the Hawks will pick Guerra up in the PSD, with him not having nominated for tomorrow's draft.

Would you like to point them out? I think youll find he has never reached the big 20 in disposals in any match in his career.

As previously pointed out did it once in Rd 17 - 2005 - 20 disposals with an average of 8.3 and 64% ground time. 2004 - 6.7 ave 75%. 2003 8.5 ave 66%. Last time he came close was Rd 19 2003 v Hawks - 19.

Suggest the link with Pelchin, AC, Hardwick and Russell would help.

It is this sort of selection that tests the appointments we have made.

Poor selection if they do go through with it.
