Pretty sure that by offering that amount you may be asking for him to sell it at LESS than face value:eek:
Whether it is below face value or not is not the point it is more about being they are a family member they would not be asking you to pay more than face value.

BTW I'm a Tigers fan haven't had to buy a GF ticket for so many years that I would not have the foggiest idea what one is worth. :)

My best result was in 96 when you get them from any ticketmaster anywhere...so I went to Warrnambool with 20 other Roos in line and had my GF ticket by 9.15.

What's best is that I saw a Premiership.

gaso
After the 1996 Grand Final they changed the system because Ticketmaster sold over 2000 Swans Vic Members tickets... even though the Swans only had 500 Vic Members that year...

Don't give up on getting one. I have been fortunate to go to the last 2 GF's, but initially missed out on the ballot last year - I received a call from the Swans on about the Thursday before the GF (after AFL members had their chance) asking if I still wanted tickets - they'd received a few more in the allocation. You never know, it might happen for you too - good luck with it.

Cheers for the wishes everyone. As I said in an earlier post, it is my own stupid fault for not purchasing the right membership, but hurts nonetheless.

Haven't given up yet, hopefully something will go my way.

i was a saints member in 97 and didnt' get a ticket I've since upgraded to social club membership which should guarantee me a ticket SHOULD we ever make it that far again:rolleyes: all I can do is try and ensure that I dont miss outagain by buying one of hte higher category memberships at st kilda, and hopefully I wont miss out again.

Gday Dan, Yeah I missed out getting a ticket by lining up at the MCG in 97 too. I was there from 3am and wasn't even close to the front of the line when they sold out. At least I got to see Rob Harvey cruise past in his Beema the morning he won the Brownlow. I've since picked up my MCC so like you will pay the price to ensure I'd never miss out again.

Maybe we should ask the mods to open a separate forum dedicated to those who have missed out/are desperately wanting to get Finals tickets.

Look!! put your name down for AFL membership right away. The sooner you do it, the quicker (eventually after bloody years) the pain will go away.

This is something that has been happening since I first came to Melbourne in 1968 and it ain't going to change.

I see your point, but to me, being an interstater (and not having made a gf :p) the whole fun about having the grand final in Melbourne is the travelling over there, the staying in a hotel and all that sort of thing. I guess you could say I can't wait til Freo do it, so I can experience this...the whole driving over and stuff. I guess seeing my mates do it last year (actually got a phone call from two of them because they got stuck in a lift in a hotel the Thursday before!) made me look forward to it more.

It should stay in Melbourne.

100% correct, it should always be at the G, ask the players and they will say the same.

so, ah, anyone want to sell some tickets to me?

I may have two tickets avaliable. Depends if dad and I bother going this year. My Dad hates Geelong, and has never ever been to a match involving Geelong. He flat out refused to go to the game last week (I went with my fiance instead). But my fiance is going overseas on Friday and I sure as heck am not going to a GF by myself. I'll PM you if I end up not going. Won't know till Thursday at the earliest though.

I think it should be done on how long you have been a member and if you took tickets to the last grand final. With the rules:

1. If your team hasn't made the Grand Final in the last 5 years - tickets are given to Members in order of when they joined the club i.e. the eighty year old lady who has sat in the outer for the last 50 years gets a ticket over the bandwagoner supporter who joined up last year. This also gives an incentive for people to keep their memberships in bad times. The people who stick with the club through the bad times get the ticket.

2. If your club has been to a grand final in the last 5 years - a ballot is conducted to randomly select who should be able to go. Similar to this year. I would do something like people who didn't go to the last one get 2 balls in the ballot, people who went to the last one get one ball in the ballot. Or perhaps even allocate them to people who didn't take up their ticket allocation last time - this would also mean people would use their tickets themselves rather than dish them off to non-members and others if they didn't go.

I don't know, its hard, the AFL needs corporates and fans.

I like your ideas AngelEyes and it's something I have discussed with my club about implementing in the past.

Unfortunately mine and most other clubs don't have very good records (leaving it open to rorts) and they also claim that Ticketmaster & the AFL at this stage do not have the systems in place to handle a system like this.

:D

I am a Port Power fan and would love to go to the GF this year and couldnt believe that it is impossible to get a ticket for a true supporter. If anyone knows of where I can buy a ticket from please pm me.

I now find out that my sister (first year of watching the Cats semi-seriously) and her husband (Brisbane Lions supporter) and their kids got tickets through the ballot.

If your brother-in-law is a Brisbane supporter, then why is he (apparently) a Geelong member?
