Thank God I was not the only one to see this. Guy was woeful. He has had only one really good spurt last year and then unfortunately got injured. But still he has had more chances than Jason Wild (Tony Shaw's love child). Sure I joke, but really he just is going from bad to worse. Like the guy but this is AFL and most talented kids never get a chance, Guy has had more lives than a cat. Unfortunately I don't think he will be much trade bait. If he does get traded and goes to be good elsewhere well good luck to him. But Josh has had to do most on his own.

They should sack both of them, but unfortuntly they cant as they need some backup for Josh, i would sack Richards and keep Fanning for another year

They can’t be backup if they are duds. You may as well go with Cameron Cloke as the backup and draft a kid. Richards and Fanning offer nothing different to Josh in terms of style and they don’t have much ability either so continuing with them is totally pointless. Once again MM has been shown to have made a poor judgement with Richards. Where did he see sufficient ability? The saddest thing I can say about our ruck situation is the McKee, an outright dud, is the best ruckman we have had this century. At least Fraser offers plenty around the ground. None of the other ruckmen we have had can say that.

You'd have to go after a ruckman in trade week surely. Someone like Laycock, Everitt or even Gardiner would be beneficial give your current ruck stocks.

I'm worried that we will be left with no ruckman next year (save for an 18 year old in the draft) and have to minimise the damage somehow.

Flip of the coin really.

Richards is probably the best of them because he's a genuine tap ruckman, albeit he doesnt know where to tap it.

I liked what I saw of McLaren at Brisbane but he went backwards big time this season. I'd swap him for Fanning, but it would probably be a "VFL trade" not an AFL trade.

I would expect Fanning to be delisted. I would hope Collingwood would try and trade Richards. Richards is supposed to be able to tap the ball but on the weekend in the VFL he was hopeless. Collingwood fans have always said when he gets himself fit he will be good. Again this year he got injured. That may well have hindered him and be part of the reason he looked ordinary but at some point you have to cut your losses. What Collingwood need is not a backup for Fraser but a ruckman that Fraser can be the backup for. I’d swap Richards for McLaren simply because we need someone (as do Carlton) and the change in style of the teams might help both. I wouldn’t hold out much hope for either though.

Richards would be marginally better then both of those.
Fanning looks terrible, but I think he has a year to run on his contract

Richards was not average yesterday, nor in AFL week before - he was very poor and helped lose both games (ie clangers, not just lost opportunities). Perhaps he was injured? Ah, but that's a story in itself. I have harboured secret hopes for Richo, as with Davidson last year. But as with Davo, the time comes to say "fare thee well". The only thing that will save Richo with us I suspect is if we can't trade/pick one tap ruck pick and keep one of Fanning/CCloke. Some other club's needs may have create more patience with him now, but I suspect our patience should be over.

Hes simply not up to it. Either is fanning! Dont know if anything will be available for trades but i would suggest that we hold onto at least 1 of them.
