If he can put some weight on, I think he's worth the investment.

Though, it irks me that Charmn was picked up after Richards
in the same draft.....
 
I think his time on the list is grossly unfair as much of it has been injury plagued and ruckmen take so lkong to develop anyway. Deffinatly needs to bulk up or work on staying in the play around the ground a bit more but right now is our best option (i personally don't think Bryan will ever be any good) As for the charman being picked up later deal, fact is picking a ruck in the draft is such a lottery. For example the whole Kruzer thing he is highly rated and is doing well at u/18 level but i have very strong doubts on how much impact he will have at afl level and yet he is all the rave. Really hard to tell at under 18's level how the big kids will develop

I thought Richards played well...he was not a bad player (and I should no, I was a shit player and it takes one to know one)

I know who we should get rid of though...all these bloody KPP who never miss a goal or ever have a bad game, all the on-ballers who get 45 possessions every game and sprint from the first whistle to the final siren, all those impregnable backmen who never make an error or give away a free, all of the 7 foot mobile crumbing tap ruckmen we have lazing around the pool. Get rid of all these bastards not only have they not been performing but they are downright fictitious.

Get rid of "put any name here" threads are fine but how do we get all these fictitious players to pull on a boot and fill the position???
 
Guy Richards is a great tap ruckman. His ruck work is far better than Josh Fraser's. Josh is a much more complete player, but with regards to pure ruckwork Richards is better. His taps to advantage are fantastic. I haven't seen a bloke as good as him that can palm down to advantage at Collingwood since Damien Monkhorst. To all those who continually have a go at him, I have one thing to say: Learn and understand the game!!!!!
Sure he is not accomplished in other areas of the game, but his ruck work is sublime.

sublime even when he directly taps it to the opponent? or gets clear hand to have it dropped at his feet yet none of our mids are waiting for/reading the drop as in he didnt tell them where he was planning on tapping it? or miss timing his run up completely? or not looking at the ball but at the player and giving away a free kick? great ruckman :rolleyes: yeah right!

your kiddin yaself mate....you think richards is a better ruckman than fraser? then why isnt he our number 1 ruckman...u tell us to Learn and understand the game...i think you need to understand that guy richards is USELESS!!!!!!!

Josh is our number 1 ruckman as he does far more around the ground than Richards does. Josh clears the ball himself from the ruck contests. He is more of a ruckman/rover than a pure ruckman. Fraser is far more valuable to the team in the ruck than anywhere else on the ground. The point is, that saying he is shit, when on the weekend 17% of his tapouts went directly into the lap of a Collingwood player is ignorance and stupidity. He is learning the trade at the moment and sure he will make mistakes. All ruckman take a while to develop.

guy richards has taken a while...and he STILL hasnt developed, how long do u want to give him

What annoys me is when a ruckman taps the ball down to the opposition and people say he's a good tap ruckman, just because he touched the ball?!?

I mean if Richards gets good him and Fraser should be leaving the AFL at around the same time, so we'll need to train 2 new ones and possily 1 with a little game time, if there our primary ruckmen.

Idk who Justin Madden is but if hes an old footballer then the game has changed.

Get a new ruckman to share 2nd ruckman with Richards.

We cannot have our 3 ruckmen all around the same age, we need to train someone young aswell
