Surprised there hasnt been a thread on Martin getting the rising star nomination over gysberts this week.

Gysberts debut was probably the best ive seen out of any player drafted last year.

Do the rising star nominations account for consistent performances by certain players, or is it the best performance of the round?

bit disappointing he did not get it.

thoughts?

After about round 5 or 6 I think they seem to do it on consistancy rather than best games. if Gysberts puts in another 2 or 3 weeks of performances he will get a nomination for sure!

Martin deserved it. Has been consistent and dominated last weekend.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I watched the tigers port game and reckon Martin probably deserved it given the fact they played during a cyclone and had to swim along the wings. Having said that though, the cautery isn't exactly an easy ground to play either I suppose. Semms they pretty much all get a go though, so i'm sure jizz'll get one sooner or later.

They base them more on consistency than a single great performance after the first few rounds.

By years end we should have at least two more nominations (Jizz and Watts) :) .

Yeah it's more based on form over the journey... i.e. Melksham got it on the back of a 14-touch game + a couple of goals i think - not dominant, but he had been consistent.
Gysberts would be almost next in line provided he plays well this week and next. Apart from him, Banfield I think would be the other one. And Watts hopefully.

Poor thread, thought he'd been dropped or something! Martin deserved it for 9 weeks of grinding it out and helping his team to their first win. Gysberts was good but in a loss. He'll get one soon.

I think Banfield has already won a nomination.

Rising star nominations are awarded for form over a few weeks, also more often then not, given to winning teams (and bigger names if the option is present).

Yeah, I wasn't too surprised that he got the nomination after that match. And it's pretty true that players in winning teams are more often recognised...

Haha! Certainly not the best choice for a title, I agree.

On topic: consistency > one good week, even if it was his debut, against the top side at one of the hardest grounds to play at... :o
