At the end of last season I looked at our list with interest , in particularly how many players we had on our list who where astonishingly better running off a half back flank / back pocket in an offensive role, than anywhere else on the ground , we had masses of them . Connors , Edwards , Lids , Moore, Bling , White, McGuanne whilst Dea , O'Rielly and even Tuck had been used in the role .
Forward almost 12 months and we have removed 1 , Bling , and possibly added 5 , Grigg, Houli , Helbig , Batch and Conca . Happy enough that the kids are being tried there however all 3 do look substantially better in that role .
Why do we continue to recruit this type of player ?

Yeah, it's interesting. In a similar vein, I was watching Freo last week and I noticed the number of blokes they have who are basically running players yet they are quite tall. Our running players are mostly small to tiny. It's a worry.

It is a pretty easy position to play well in.

Play on your man, when we get the ball, run to space and recieve ball.

Not a lot to it.

Perhaps coaches are looking at it as part of developing players coming into the team. Or a place mids can rest while rotating through other positions??
