Despite the fact that you laugh, Cassius, I'd suggest that was the reason as well - Goldstein shows a LOT of ability as a tap ruckman, and they are probably anticipating him arriving on the scene, along with Hale and Petrie rotating through the ruck and up forward.

They are attempting to trade into this draft big time, so they are putting some of the pieces that they may not necessarily need on the table. The big question is: will this be a Nathan Thompson or a Jonathan Hay deal?

isn't this like the kerr situation? negotiations failed, they put him in the market to see what he's worth then when they figured out that no one was offering anything worth him they re-negotiated & signed him up.

i think Laidley is doing the same, he's thrown his name out there to see what he can get for him, but i don't think he expects any club to come up with something worth trading him. in short i don't think you need him, focus on cousins or O'Keefe or someone else...
