News Hampson A/C - 1 Week

Hampson to miss a week with an A/C problem. He came off the ground after a collision holding his left shoulder and went straight to the rooms, but came back on and played so probably at the minor end of the spectrum.

Cloke will most defiantly get a call up. Both Sauce and Warnock are still in the Recovery group. If they decide to rest him. Shame though...

Warnock, Sauce, Walker, Darren and Wiggins should be ready for VFL this weekend...

Wouldn't have thought they'd have made that call so early - he DID get through the rest of the game.

That's what I was afraid of.

True, but I'm only going by the report in the paper.

Will depend on how the recovery goes. BB might be able to help, but it seems that while the injury is fresh and the muscles around the area not yet inflamed players can play on, then after they cool down and inflammation starts it then becomes more of a debilitating injury. If he trains though I would suspect he can play.

And for those that think we might trade one of our ruck stock to GC as many were speculating earlier this season, we now have Sauce, Warnock, perhaps Carlos if he has not come up yet and possibly Hammer injured, and if you look at other teams, they too have 2 or 3 rucks out injured at any one time, Essendon for example have 3 out. So it would seem you MUST have at least 3 frontline rucks on your list these days.

Spot on.

Blatant avoidance of the Incorrect Surname Spelling Filter. Shame. :o

Had we been 10 goals up I suspect he may have spent a good deal of time on the bench. They are "comfortable" with tape and maybe even a little injection, but if there is ligament damage he may need to give it a spell to let it heal. A minor AC lig injury is generally 1-2 weeks. Just depends on how "disrupted" the joint is.
Wouldn't do much at training this week I suspect.

I suspect that Sauce may be elevated with the thoughts of him going back to SA for a second round pick next year.......maybe.

That leaves us with Warnock, Hampson, Kreuzer, and Cloke/Setanta for backup.

Well no one could argue that those 3 are not frontline rucks! Would not be surprised though if Sauce stays and we retain 4 specialist ruckmen or more to the point 3 specialist rucks and Kruze plays forward. :thumbsu:

Exactly. Personal relationships aside, Carlton weren't too peeved about losing Kennedy in the Judd trade, as long as they kept pick 1. Kreuzer is an upgrade on Kennedy except so far we've haven't had the luxury of anchoring him in the forward 50.

Depth is good. We have a bunch of good kids who can ruck but maturity-wise our best 2 rucks are still a way behind the dynamic Porter/Allan combination we fleetingly had in the early 2000s. The game has changed in that time. You now require two full time A-grade ruckmen in the 22, as Dean Cox's mounting injuries indicate. Only when Warnock and Hampson have actually established themselves as mature A-graders should we even consider trading away someone potentially worth a 2nd round pick. Didn't we just spend one on Robbie?

If Sam Jacobs is promoted at the end of the year, it's because the football department recognise his importance to the squad of 38 - not for trade bait, we've spent 4 years on the kid. If our intention was to trade him we'd have to start planning this year to nab another long term rookie or use that traded pick on drafting another ruckman. I believe his early season form showed he was very close to 'making it' and if he can get to a few more contests around the ground, he'll seriously challenge Hampson and Warnock for a spot in the team and not just as a backup.

Disappointing to hear because he has been playing some pretty reasonable footy over the past few months.

He's really showing some fantastic signs for the future and is starting to develop into the type of player that the recruiting staff would have hoped when they selected him.

We'll seriously miss him on the weekend against Sydney and Cloke will have to come in to help Kreuzer against Jolly because there's no way he'll be able to go up against him all by himself now that Hammer will miss.

I've got no doubt Hammer will come back into the seniors straight away so that he can continue his development.

Did anyone notice that it was a bit of a dodgy kick from the Great man that meant Hammo had to contest the ball which caused the injury rather than him taking an easy uncontested mark?

I know these things happen in footy and no one is to blame at all for these sort of things as they happen all the time in footy. I am going to blame the conditions for any errors in the Great man's disposal.

Delist this hack!

Bloody Jordan Russ... Oh.

;)

As I said in the injury thread, Hammer didn't looked troubled by his shoulder at training today. Handballed on both sides and raised his arms above his head without any difficulties at all.

While the arms overhead is a good sign (handballing wouldn't bother a mild AC joint much), I'd be more interested to see him in some contact work, particularly getting bumped from the side (will be done as a fitness test Friday I'd say). If he gets through that he'll be fine. If it pulls up really sore, may have a week off.
