Hangover cures/IV drips

Dudes - you'll probably dog me with lines like "2001 called and wants its topic back", but a mate of mine swears by the use of his IV drip for a hangover cure. He brags about it all the time.

I'm not a gun ho a drinker or anything, but every time he mentions the damn thing, all I can think about is the hoo-ha regarding the Lions using them for hydration years ago and the AFL slamming it.

Thought I'd open (or most likely re-open) a thread on:-

1. hang over cures if anyone out there has any decent ones;

2. whether anyone can remind me why this was a big deal for the AFL back in '01.

Guys get injections for pain and play - Nigel Lappin is a god for getting an injection for his busted rib and playing in the '03 grand final - but gee whizz, good job he didn't get an injection for rehydration cause that's just sending the wrong message to the kiddies.

The cynic in me thinks its a sponsorship issue - think about what the corporate wigs at Powerade would say! :p

Do the guys still use the gas mask - the hydrated air or whatever it is like the NFL does?

Anyways, would be interested in how you guys look at this issue, given a few years have gone by.

coke is too expensive but it def does the job (alleged)

I recommend raw egg yolks w a dash of chille. Once you've sicked that up I always feel 100 percent better. :thumbsu:

Full English breakfast along with lots of water and sleepp.

Only cures I can recommend are to

1- Stay drunk.
2- Hair of the dog (be it a brown dog or any other species)
3- Do as Cheswick does, vomit in your sleep after two beers.:D:D This should scare you enough to never get drunk again.

Water, no. Makes you sick.
Sleep, no. Sleep drunk, you still wake up drunk.
My answer - CARBS! Pancakes, toasted sandwiches, a really good takeaway burger or even a decent pasta.

Carbs are my answer to everything though!:D

I call it the dreaded three:

1. Drinking all day.

2. Not eating.

3. Mixing drinks.

I find that if I avoid all of the above, then I am able to function the next morning. If I avoid 2 of the above, then it will only take me an hour or two to get back on track. If I avoid only 1 of the above, there is a good chance that I'll be sick for most of the day. If I am unable to avoid all three, then I am going to be in a bad state for a while!

And why is recovery so much harder when you get older?

Oxygen tank eg diving tank. Hour sleep with that the next morning and you're 100%

WHAT?! No.... it was 12 beers, I swear! :D

And as far as scaring away from getting drunk? Don't think so, I had to drink myself to the hospital with hypothermia to scare me  ;)
