THE Brisbane Lions have kept Pearce Hanley out of the clutches of Greater Western Sydney and re-signed the flying Irishman to a new deal at the Gabba.

Hanley, 22, is a big part of coach Michael Voss's plans with his ability to run and carry the ball off halfback becoming an important part of the Lions' game style.

Hanley played all 22 games for the club in 2011 after making just 12 senior outings in his first three years.

Great news, didn't think he'd jump ship. As someone said earlier the Irish guys seem to be very loyal to the team that gave them a chance. Only way he would leave is to go back to Ireland.

Hmmmm didn't think about that. Given that new signings have been texted and emailed to members lately before they have made the paper it does beg the question as to where he got his info.

Also doesn't disclose a term of contract which is the norm.

You would've thought if it was official from the club, there would've been news of it on the Lions home page. Also would've thought we'd what the contract is - 2 or 3 years etc. Doubt Davis would publish it unless he was 100% certain though.

Yeah the first thing I did was ask for another source, but the next story that came out about Hanley was him re-signing.

Any chance the Winger (or whatever their twitter tag was) misread re-signed as resigned from Brisbane? That's the only thing I could think of.
