You have to feel for SPS. Off to Carlton, with Liam Jones the only other indigenous player on their list and they are also not exactly known for their player welfare. Meanwhile his cousin and the guy he probably wanted to spend time in Melbourne with (Cedric) is off up to Brisbane, a club that struggles to retain players and just lost it's welfare person to a year long ban.

A little ruthless just after the ND is complete but possibly bodes well for our future trading ;) I'm actually a little surprised both of these clubs took the risk.
I had a nightmare that Carlton drafted this year believing they will trade their first two picks to us with the draft selections for Fyfe.

SPS is on record as saying he prefers a Melb club, looked chuffed to be taken by CFC.

Yeah don't get me wrong I think he is and will continue to be excited for quite a while. It's not the honeymoon period that you have to worry about though. Remember some of our draftee's families freaking out about their boy coming to the other side of the country? All forgotten now. It's what happens in 12-18 months time that matters imo. If you feel supported, comfortable and feel like you fit in, then you'll likely be happy and want to stay. If not, it's a tough journey ahead. The guy is a gun so I want him to succeed wherever he is. I think a lot of clubs need to get better at player welfare, including us.

What about the #1 draft pick going to the team that Systematically doped their players.
With a chemist as a coach, that looks em in the eyeo_O

Agree with that but I would love to know the reason behind the attraction to play in Mexico

Like you I knew nothing of him as he hadn't really been mentioned in discussions for our pick so I was a bit wtf to start with

That analysis looks at odds to others I've now read. Moves like shuey (which will be laughed at here) and has pace which we lack. After the initial shock of a bit of an unknown he seems to be getting pretty well received

Time will tell as with all draftees

Read a few more. Vee Dub seems to be the anomaly. Most rating him in the 1st round. Will have to watch some highlights later.

yep i was petrified of that needle when in the dentist chair and the smug grin as he waved it in my face saying may hurt a little....then in she goes and watching his fingers squeeze all that stuff in my gob....still brings tears to my eyes
