Opinion Hardest players to tackle

Who do you think are the hardest players to tackle? Due to their core strength, centre of gravity, elusiveness, size, etc.

I would say Ablett, Griffen, Judd, Rioli.

Joel Selwood, Chris Judd, Dustin Martin and Cyril Rioli.

Dustin Martin has very good core strength for his age, busting open packs versing mature bodies.

Ablett is the obvious. Either breaks packs open, shrugs with core strength or don't argues his way out of trouble.

Pavlich has to be mentioned, especially after watching him against Carlton. Simply pushes all those that come near him away with his incredible strength.

Chapman and Selwood are both players who if they don't break tackles usually end up getting free kicks out of it.

Judd breaks packs apart probably better than anyone in the comp. Opponents hang off Judd, but it's a rare occassion if he's on the deck.

Rioli, Milne, Davis, Byrnes and Johnson are all blokes who have feet quicker than the rest of us and can get out almost any situation purely due to their evasivness.

How many players out their could tackle big Sandilands? You won't see this bloke on the turf.

From my own club, I don't think I have ever actually seen Trent Cotchin get tackled.

From other clubs, aside from the obvious (Judd, Ablett etc) whenever I seem to watch Kennedy from Sydney and when he was playing for Hawthorn, I am very impressed with his core strength.

Martin is incredible with his core strength at this stage of his development.

Sam Gilbert is very good with his fend offs.

Judd and Ablett seem to get longer than other players like Milne, Ballatyne, etc.

Judd is so hard to tackle because he strong through the hips and he managers to run through other player.

Abllet is so light on his feet and managers to duck and weave around people at ease.

They are the two hardest to tackle

In terms of core strength and ability to bust through tackles and not just evade Ablett, Judd, Griffen are the 3 that clearly stand out for me, these blokes are very rarely brought to ground just when you think they are caught they manage to break through.

Others like Pavlich, Buddy are hard to tackle because of their brute strength of being able to be in middle with a key position body.

In terms of evasion the small quick aboriginals are the best Rioli, Harbrow, Garlett etc

I have got a good one,

Jared Brennan:D:D:thumbsu:

Holds the ball in 1 hand and fends off with the other. Also sidesteps and weaves his way out of trouble somehow when you think there is no chance of him getting out of it!

Dangerfield. Very Judd-like in his ability to stand up in the tackle.

Will only get stronger/better as well.

Griffen has the great ability to shrug a tackle, whilst nobody can barely lay a finger on ablett to start with. Chappy is great at milking a free when contact is made to him. Jarrod Harbrow doesn't mind arching his back to get away from trouble!

When's the last time Dane Swan was tackled? He always seems to do enough to break a tackle. He, like Ablett and Judd, has a very strong core.

Good point. Swan is another with very good core strength. Dont see him get tackled much
