All the talk is for O'meara but considering he cant play till 2013, will come at a high cost, would Bennell who is homesick be a better option?
Bennell can play midfield, forward, and was drafted second behind Swallow.
Has pace and x factor to his game, living with Karmichael, who will probably go back to league. This guy went second, O'meara may be a top five pick?
Imagine two HB's in the forward line.

What, another Hill? We're struggling to help Hill reach his potential, another fleshy clone might be bit too much.
We need some seriously hard-nut mofos. There's plenty of talent in our team, just no guts.

Yes but we also need game plan b, c, if we cant get O'meara, should we target another 17 year old, and see whats available for 2012.
It would be great to be very aggresive, just like Collingwood with Jolly, Ball, Tarrant, Krak.

Bennell? Would cost a lot for a player with a huge downside. Honestly, if you can't get over homesickness living on the ****ing Gold Coast then you may as well pack it in.
Consequently i'd lean towards the issue being discipline problems. And we hardly need another flaky underachiever hanging around the club.

Didnt Tarrant or his wife use the same excuse?
Yes Bennell would cost, but the draft this year with our first pick could be in the twenties.

Bennel is a (very) poormans Stephen Hill with a questionable work/professional ethic.. at his cost no thanks

We need o'meara.(inside mid)
-lightening quick
-rolls royce engine already
-ball magnet
-highly skilled

Everyone seems to say O'Meara is an inside mid. I haven't seen the kid play, but I thought in an interview he said he was outside and started to do more inside work this year. Obviously he's been successful with it.

Anyone really know this kid well? Seen him much? Which is he?

Some of my thoughts from his work last week.

Got along to Leederville to watch Subi vs Perth bright an early yesterday morning, wanted to see how the Jaeger Bomb was travelling and whilst impressed I wasnt blown away.

He's definitely got all the features for a top line player but, without looking at the stats I thought he was well held by Mitchell Deboer for the most part.

When he does cut loose, he looks every bit a number one pick, has an extra gear which he slips into to get that separation and his field kicking is very polished.

Got caught up in the niggle, which is ok, he's going to have to deal with it in the coming years, also wary about his group of friends, absolute plebs, but Im sure they wont follow him to GWS.

Was Perth's best in a side well beaten and despite not dominating was easily the most classy player on the ground when he found some space.
Jaeger Bomb is going to be a player.

Is he a pure extractor? No, is he working on his inside game, absolutely.

From what I could gather and what was pretty obvious at ground level he's been told to burst through a stoppage and swoop on the ball at pace rather than go to to toe with a tagger with both feet planted underneath the ruckman.

He is more than capable of finding his own ball though.

Are you Schwabbing me?

yeah...nah... Seen much of him?? Had the pleasure of talking to him at when he was blind 3am in mandurah when he should of been on the flight back to QLD??

Couldnt give a f*** about professional footy.. just wants to play the game with his mates.. wouldnt go near him.. which probly means he'll be in purple within 2 years

Where were you in madurah at 3am, what kind of person from Claremont frequents Mandurah, have you no shame?

But stop, a super talented 18 year old is a little homesick and would rather play with his mates in his home state?

**** me.

Harley is as talented as Stephen Hill and then some, he's also capable of having an impact onball and forward of the centre.

Hill is fast becoming a squib and a specialist half back flanker.

One thing which is obvious from this year is we have no speed, to run both ways, and to break the lines.
Hill maybe injured, tagged, too heavy, but last year had the x factor, Bennell can take the heat of Hill, but can play forward too. This is his first
year of AFL, and with a change to familar surroundings, fast track his development.
Lets face it when you are unhappy at work it does have an effect on your
life.
Our first draft pick will probably be on the player we required this year a Jack Darling type.
Inside mid can be found in the rookie draft ie Hutchings etc, besides if Palmer cant get a game with the injuries we have had, maybe its not a
priority.

You are forgetting Morabito.

Mundy is also no slouch.

Thanks for the clarification.

Morabito, Mundy , are coming back from injury, and who knows if they will have the same speed, stamina.
All the reports on Darling last year were negative, Drinking, fighting, etc, and had a poor carnival.
Yes Bennell could be put in this bin, but they are still kids.

Cheers.

Thanks for the clarification.

From what I heard & read about jaeger regarding what type of mid he was, outside or inside. After watching him on the tele he did alot more inside work on this particular day,he also worked deep into defense.
Fingers crossed rnd 1 of the H&A 2013 our midfield consists of Barlow, mundy, mora, fyfe,Pitt, hill & O'meara.

So you are a ****ing idiot.

Not saying he isnt talented.. but he is so far down the pecking order of needs it isnt funny (when you consider what would be needed to get him).. btw Hill won as much of his own ball in his first year as Harley has.. so what?

Your being extra present on here this week GG.. ahh thats right, a few losses in a row would explain that

Didnt answer my question about where you were in Mandurah, no doubt you're just relaying some heresay as fact.

Good work on trying to discredit me as a poster though, nice theory, just need to work on the practical and you'll get there.

Right now though, you're struggling.

Stories that ive heard from people who played with Harley and those involved with the academy tour to South Africa aren't that flash.

Didn't see it first hand so i cant judge, it could be all bullsh*t but then again i dont believe they were saying it for the hell of it. This along with the gossip on big footy, im not comfortable with paying overs for someone who's not commited to the club.

I dont want another Collard

Didnt think it was a serious question... i have lived in the area on and off for years.. was there for a long weekend, the week GC played WCE.. GC mentioned they let him stay behind for family reasons.. i was out at Toucan with mates and low and behold who should be there near last call off his nut? Surely he could spend that time with his relatives in a better way??

Also my brother knows him through mutual friends.. agree with the Collard reference.. talent, but not the right make-up to maximise it.. anyway this is all a mute point.. as the main point is we dont need..
