Derp. He was never rated to go top 10, Hawthorn then traded up to get him.Yep, even slid right past hawthorn's first pick - can't have rated him too highly if you took MacKenzie ahead of him.
Confused as to where you think I said he was rated to go top 10?Derp. He was never rated to go top 10, Hawthorn then traded up to get him.
Pass.Reeves, Mackenzie, Serong, Pick 5 and an F1 for Harley

Yes, I do. It's quite likely we knew we could trade back in and still get Weddle, just as we did. However, we were always aware that Mackenzie wouldn't be available. That said, the past draft rankings don't matter, what matters now is who we rate higher at this point in time and that is clearly Weddle. What do you disagree with - the idea that clubs draft their higher rated player first, or that MacKenzie was drafted with an earlier pick?
You must be new here. It wouldn't even be close to the dumbest comment on this thread. This might be the dumbest comment I’ve ever read on bigfooty
Squeezing out those last clicks before he re-signs and there's nothing left to milk. The Vic media merry go round continues. Hawks, St Kilda a couple of days ago. Probably Essendon next followed by Geelong, Carlton, Bulldogs, Melbourne ect
No current season stats available
I feel like I just walked into a wall…There’s also a zero chance Weddle would consider a move to the Eagles if a trade for Reid were to happen. And if he did, he’d immediately be your best player by a country mile.
The Eagles are smashing all types of records this season — and will become the first team ever to lose 22 games in a season. So why the **** not?I feel like I just walked into a wall…
There’s no way you genuinely think Weddle immediately hits number 1 on the list?
Probably because we have the reigning AA FF on the list. The Eagles are smashing all types of records this season — and will become the first team ever to lose 22 games in a season. So why the **** not?
Contrary to popular belief, it’s not our ENTIRE list that’s absolute cloggers. Our best couple players in each line are actually good it’s just that everyone else sucks absolute hole. Would Weddle be one of the first names in the backline? Definitely. Are there players I’d take out of West Coast before taking Weddle out of Hawthorn? Absolutely. I’m not saying he’s shit, he’d be in our top 5 without question. The Eagles are smashing all types of records this season — and will become the first team ever to lose 22 games in a season. That’s fair. I did laugh when I read McQuilter’s comments today. If Reid doesn’t extend and the Eagles hold him to his contract (as they should) there’s a good chance Reid’s current deal will outlast McQuilter at the Eagles anyway (coaches who win one game for a season don’t usually last too long).Contrary to popular belief, it’s not our ENTIRE list that’s absolute cloggers. You wish.Yep he’s overrated, and we will take your overrated player in Reid and we’ll be one big overrated team![]()
McQualter has basically had a freebie season for a variety of reasons. He’s had injuries to all of his best players, is a rookie head coach, is dealing with an absolutely vile list, hasn’t been able to put his own staff in place, etc. That’s a big conversation atm within the eagles is getting him in his men. I think he will at least be in the job to start 2027. It obviously doesn’t show in the W-L but he’s actually done good things for the eagles in his time so far. That’s fair. For what it’s worth I am highly sceptical Hawthorn will get Reid. Not because he isn’t a gun but because we don’t have the collateral. I’m also uneasy throwing that sort of money (as a proportion of the total cap) at any player. You are only a major injury (like Day this year) away from being in a hole…
Stop filling up the Reuben Ginbey thread with this Harley Reid nonsense
