What do you suggest they do? Let him walk? That doesn't fix the glaring talent issue on the list. Like the Saints with Naz, it sells hope to supporters and other players about the future if he signs, even if it's overs now. Your own club would also be dangling a big carrot in front of him, so I don't see an issue here.

There has never been a player receive this much hype before and after their draft, everyone can see the ceiling including your mob and yourself because why else would you be in this thread.

Harley was earmarked for pick one years before his draft. Multiple clubs offered first round picks for him.

Multiple clubs openly admit to the talent, every opposition club supporter base don't stop talking about him either positive or negative, the negative only comes because of the stubborn mindsets that a kid with this ceiling is with a club at the bottom.

Multiple clubs are trying to bring him out of west coast.

The demand is high, his price is therefore high. 2mil a year is fine, his output plus his marketability and add to that his influence if he signs for a decent period may see more trade targets land.

All of the above in my opinion justifies the kids contract whether its 2mil or not. No other number one pick has come close in recent times.

As the salary cap grows this contract for a player like Harley becomes a bargain.

After Harley signs West Coast should be all in on hitting up his mates at other clubs, including yours.
