I agree with you to some extent, but Reid is a special case. He's in a two team town, in the newspaper every day, he would feel very hounded.

In this town, the media sees it as one town team. The local paper has seriously added a lot of fuel to the fire here. Kid has been given wayyyy more attention than he needed to get.

It’s given him a bit more of an ego than he probably should have and definitely given everyone else out there a lot of ammunition. It’s then continually been blown out of proportion.

If Reid played for any other team in any other state, this wouldn’t be happening. Hell, even if he played for freo this wouldn’t be a thing.

It’s the media over here and the clubs probably don’t do enough to alleviate it

Reid was like this since before he was drafted, and the WA media has barely mentioned him since the season ended last year.
The Eagles have clearly used some of their influence with the west to get them to stop being campaigners

The Zorko thing was such a non-event.

I understand the fine for the middle finger, but the fact that they issued a ‘please explain’ just to generate an extra 48 hours of headlines before they gave him the fine that everyone knew he was going to get is incredible.

I guess when there’s 814 footy shows on every night they need something to talk about.

Legit. It’s been a fine for years. Dusty got fined, Cousins got fined, pretty sure there was another Vic club player who got fined for it too. It’s been a fine for so long - why the please explain? You issue the fine, if there was some particularly awful reason that Reid gave the finger he can then appeal it.

They don’t issue a please explain for any incidental contact that causes a concussion, they give the punishment & you appeal it.

Had Harley been abused with something entirely out of line, then he can go appeal it. By the grin he had, it was clearly all a bit of a pisstake.
