What a fantastic game, won several crucial contests when he looked out of position and about to get burned, only to win the football with a combination of desperation and skill. Just wanted it more and had the chops to get it done. His best game for the club, for mine. Even better than the St Kilda tagging effort, because he hurt them more going the other way.

Great player…great pickup.

Will never be a midfielder, but a very handy smart head at half back, just does the right thing more often then not.

This his value will increase once the older heaps of Pendlebury and Sidebottom retire.

Better acquisition than Shultz and Houston combined.

Cost us a pretty penny wage wise but none of the trade capital we've spent on the other two.

I would enjoy Perryman getting midfield time. He does so well in defence it makes it difficult. Anderson has potentially made it even more difficult. Perryman was in demand and there is a free agency cost. His value will be even higher with expected retirements. With Houston and Shultz they are critical. Great pickup pies.

He’s been a fantastic acquisition.
I watched a replay of the last quarter & I thought that he was very good. From comments on here, I believe that he played very well in the preceding 3 quarters. So I agree that he had been a very good recruit to the club after coming over from GWS. Goodnight & good luck.

He did, in some way. He started in defence but was sent to the back of stoppages a lot in the second half, with Pendles playing more forward of the ball. It’s not inside mid in the traditional sense and no CBA but he was the +1 in the middle more than before. This was his highest % of possessions in the forward half of the year. Circa 44% when in some games he goes at 0/7% as a pure lockdown defender.

He once again showed his potential in the role which I’ve been banging on about. He’s ready for the Pendles role and his chemistry with Nick should be fostered, it’s a miss from the coaches IMO not to have made the move yet.

Tough, smart, good decision maker, good below the knee, tackles well, covers ground even better.

It's funny, I don't normally go into game day threads but today I had a venture in there occasionally after goals, and this guy was copping an unbelievable amount of abuse.

How good was the 1 hand mark.
Meanwhile I was at the game commenting on how much I love the guy 😂
He is incredible at filling space, leaving his man at the right time and is a very underrated mark.
Super reliable, very professional and is filthy when he makes the smallest of mistakes.

I absolutely love Pez. I have a soft spot for the type of players that aren't necessarily blessed with elite skills but rather those that apply themselves and squeeze out every ounce of talent they've got. Pez is so damn reliable. I think it was Pendles that stated that with Pez you've got a guy that will get you "a death by athousand cuts" he just does what's required again, and agin, and again. It was not lost on me that Pendles sought him out for a pat on the back as they walked down the race after the game. He was outstanding tonight.

Pendles also said in his first pre season that he rates his decision making. This may be the last year where Pez can get on field coaching from the master himself in the exact position he should be playing long term for us (defensive mid). Make it happen or we’ll regret it later.

Yes I’m sure Pendles will delete Pez’s number if he retires.

Did you miss the words ‘on field’? There’s a world of difference in Pendles responding to a text from Pez while he’s busy in his new assistant coaching gig at another club, and hearing direct feedback in play and during the week at training from the best to have ever done it in the game in his position of choice (it being on field leadership and coaching).

Fair call. I am honestly half-expecting to see Pendles go around again at this stage. I think Howe is the only guaranteed retirement for us at the end of the year.

I agree. He legitimately looks like he could play on, even 10-15 games. Thing is he probably knows he needs to make way for the next gen and he’ll have the record in pocket and may call it quits himself.

We will lose a lot when he goes, more than people are willing to admit. Hence why I am very strong in finding ways to fill that gap and think Pez is best suited if he gets properly trained and exposed to it to learn his patterns and have time to do it while Pendles plays relief there where he needs. I would see use go back to using Pendles at HB and sometimes HF this year and give his minutes to Pez.

Better player than I initially thought. Played just as well last night as when he had Nas on a short leash earlier in the year

Pendles came through from D50 with a surprising big spoil in the last quarter last night. That was cool to see.
