Has the new 15m rule worked so far, in your opinion?

Has it created too much confusion, for a change in a rule which was hardly needed, or hardly effecting an aspect of our game?

Does it need time for players and umpires to adjust? It seems now anyting from 10-20m is a question mark.

In all - would we have been better off to stay with the old 10 meter rule, or do we need more time to assess it?

IMO - currently it is very frustrating. Nobody seems to have an idea of what is a mark and what is play on, and I cant see why the 10m rule needed changing.

Might change my opinion in time tho.

i'll admit that there is confusion, but i prefer that a short kick and mark be called play-on rather than a mark. and the benefit of the doubt should be play-on IMO. at least it's one attempt to stop a team stalling a game eg. in the dying minutes, or trying to gain a few metres when someone is 55m out and choose not to have a shot.

i'll also admit that there are other more pressing rule changes that should have been seriously considered.

No. It has created too much confusion and umpires have been erring on the side of giving the benefit of doubt against the team with the ball. I've seen so many kicks which have been 20 metres and called play on. Umpires have been getting trigger happy and waving their arms in excitement.

What I have noticed is that the closer it is to either goal the stricter the interpretation appears to be. For instance 15m is looking a lot like ten from some mid-field passing that I have seen and sideway passes from kick-outs or the fifty metre line are looking more like ten than 15. Regardless of actual distance that the ball has travelled either.

Just another thing that the maggots have to try and concentrate on. To my mind they stuff it up enough without the extra pressure of trying to judge that extra 5m distance (which btw I do think would be difficult to do after having 10m as the 'guide' line).
