GEELONG'S boom VFL recruit, James Podsiadly, says his decision to defect to the Cats was not football related.
Podsiadly, 27, left Werribee Football Club after six seasons to take up a duel role as a player and fitness coach at Geelong.
The key forward, who topped the league's goal-kicking in 2005, will be a spearhead in attack while guiding both the AFL and VFL groups through weight-training, running and recovery sessions as one of the club's high-performance managers.
Podsiadly's appointment coincides with his completion of an exercise science university degree.
He plans to cap off his study with an honours year while working with the Cats list.
He said he was at pains to leave Werribee, where he is a life member, but couldn't pass-up his dream job.
"It was always about my career; playing for Werribee while working for Geelong in their strength and conditioning department was never going to happen" he said.
"I had sleepless nights before I decided to walk away from that footy club.
"Obviously there were people who were disappointed I left, but 98 per cent of the players said they'd have done the same thing.
" To come here and learn from the best team in the competition was too good to resist."

Will James Podsiadly ever make it to an AFL list at his age?
Kicked a few decent bags.. Dont know the tally though.
No way ever that he will make a list, to old now.

The most overrated player in the league.
