Bubble was pretty saggy during the NAB games too, when everyone was still ****-a-hoop, but Kenny admitted to being pretty concerned.

I don't think it's a matter of the bubble bursting, but the truth is that our form isn't great, and when lose, we tend to do so in a really painful way where it looks like we are incapable of kicking the ball anywhere near the goals. Exceptions are the rd23 and prelim final fixtures last year. Otherwise, our last 8-10 losses have not been pretty games.

Port were NEVER as good as people thought last season.

Sorry but Port beat teams that had massive injuries and add in that fact of the new ground advantage.

The way Kosh and Ken/ Club has gone about the hype has been disgracefully imo because it has put ridiculous pressure on the players!

Everyone could see that Port were an emerging club pushing above their weight and realistically one that would be challenging in 2016+.

Port have great talent but the running game plan without any tactics will cost you a premiership imo. You can't rely solely on beating your opponent with running, you need a game plan against the top 4.

This season is not doom and gloom as you still will play finals but a tactical game plan needs to be implemented for future progress.
Is that why Freo showed us up in their home final? Oh wait...

And really, no game plan?! If you think all we do is run I doubt you are actually watching properly.

Truth hurts I guess.

At least your prematch entertainment was pretty good.

Good to see you up and about again Geoff, it's been two years since I've seen you this chirpy. Maybe wait and see how your mob goes against the likes of Freo and Sydney before mouthing off too much.

oh wait...... found it

that will fix everything.....

Cool story.

Check your.record against last years top four sides Hawks Sydney and North.

When you consider that it is no.surprise you guys have struggled against Freo and Sydney.

We haven't struggled against any of those teams. Check your records.

Hawks : 1 fair n' square win, 1 close loss.
Sydney: 1 close loss, 1 fair n' square loss, 1 thumping
Freo: 2 fair n' square wins, 2 close losses

All I have done is post facts.

Your last 16 games you have won 6 and lost 10.

Up to you guys to decide what that trend suggests.
There has been a preseason with a number of players coming off surgery since then. Means absolutely nothing. It's round 2, we will beat north hopefully Hawks and you blokes easily. Not concerned at all. We need Lobbe back though, redden is a liability.

Yes it has, but the bubble has to burst for the team to realize its full potential. All of the great sides have had to go thru it.

Yep.

They wrote us off when we lost 5 in a row after going 5-0 to start 2013. Bounced back to upset the highly-fancied Pies away in an EF before taking it right up to Geelong the week after.

They wrote us off when we fell in a hole after we started like a house on fire in 2014. Destroyed Richmond in an EF, ran all over Freo and got within a Sanderson skullfeather of a GF.

Our prep for 2015 hasn't been ideal. The Ryder-Monfries crap. Nil time into Hartlett, Wingard and Trengove. Lobbe out with a quad, which has utterly negated whatever plans we had to ruck him in tandem and in turn deploy Westhoff in the role/s assigned.

Our early draw is such that we could've been playing very well and still be 2-2 or 1-3 given the opposition. It's essentially a faux finals series and a couple of rivals have taken full advantage.

20 games to go.

It has. And so be it. You have to earn right to finals. Reality stinks but how we respond will be the biggest test. Let's test our depth out too

They didnt look confident tonight.. to much second guessing!

As Ken would say - DON'T BE SELFISH + CHOSE THE FIRST OPTION!

Sometimes it's more like "don't be selfless, choose the first option"

Why Monfries looked to give the handpass off when he was 2.3 metres out from goal baffled me. Ended up changing his mind and kicking it, but gee, sure gave Sydney a sniff in that second of indecision.

And exactly how have the Crows fared against top 4 sides in recent times? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I reckon it's pretty abysmal.

Other teams work you out too. You're still a relatively young side, and don't quite have the physical seasoning across the board to enforce your will on the very best teams week in week out just yet.

This year is one of those years where you could fall away significantly enough to miss the finals. Again tho, the great teams have all had to take a step back to move forward during their journey to the ultimate success.

Wtf? Are you ******ed?

Gameplay involving only run? Lol

I can guarantee you we will finish higher than you.

It's round 2?

We lost closely to freo in a game we should of won and beaten by Sydney convincingly isn't quite season over. We had a form slump last season that everyone forgets about. We will finish top 4. Not concerned at all. We haven't been "worked out" we have just played sub par football, poor turnovers and alot of under done players. No finals.. This is gold

Settle down. I never said you would miss, I said you could. I think you'll still make the finals, but won't go as well as you did last year.

And yeah, it's only round 2. There's plenty of time to address the issues. I still think that's going to leave you short of last years performance, and in essence what I'm saying is that if/when that happens, it's not the worst thing that can happen because those disappointments are often the impetus for great success.

I'm prepared to put my neck on the block and say I can see Port winning a flag in the next 3-5 years. The cake just has to stay in the oven a bit longer.

You actually think we will finish lower than 5th?

It's two games but the worrying thing is that in 2014 we were never beaten, we could be 4-5 goals down at 3/4 time and could expect a surge. In both games we were outscored in the last quarter. 4.4 to 3.0 against Freo and 3.2 to 0.3 against Sydney. We didn't once kick consecutive goals and in the second quarter we got within 7 points 3 times only to have the Swans kick out to 13 within 3 minutes each time. And they were the ones who got consecutive goals, breaking the game open with 5.2 to 0.1 from 25.47 in Q2 to 7.38 in Q3 to lead by 38 points. From there Port got back to 5 goals but never looked like making a dent in Sydney's lead which eventually blew out to 8 goals.
