For those who don't get The Worst, today might be a good day to grab a copy.
There's a Mark Duffield feature on Hase, with a terrific picture of him on the back page looking leaner and fitter than he's looked since mid-2004. The article is pretty good, not seriously deep (it is The Worst after all), but Hase talks about:
(i) his extreme disappointment in not being able to be a part of the finals,
(ii) how he's pain-free for the first time in two years,
(iii) how he's been doing extra work in the gym on his core strength including yoga sessions and extra stretching,
(iv) how the whole group feels that despite their little "run on" last year, they still feel they have achieved nothing,
(v) the disappointment that the team had in the way they played against Sydney and in losing two out of their three finals,
(vi) how they have been working on the "team" aspect of the game, including weekly meetings and a strong focus on developing a team ethos
(vii) how they are a strong, skilful, powerful running side and if they get the "team" right they will be a dangerous combination.
And the bit I liked best:
"The confidence in the group is pretty high and the biggest change I have seen is that there is an expectation to do well this year, where as in the previous years we hoped we would do it, we hope we would make the eight."
A stronger, fitter and healthier Hase.
