Sorry, I'm supposed to close threads when they get to 1000 posts.

Who would have thought a thread on our little game of hattrick would get that many posts anyway?

So, season 28 is now over.

This is how III.6 finished:

1. Goon_Squad 14 7 5 2 39 18 21 26

2. Hillside 14 7 5 2 32 18 14 26
3. Melrose Park Rangers 14 6 4 4 21 23 -2 22
4. FC Crouchzinho 14 6 3 5 23 24 -1 21 - Me

5. Italian Stallions FC 14 6 1 7 25 32 -7 19 - RoJo Junior
6. Scheissenhausen YFC 14 3 5 6 21 25 -4 14

7. Southern Super Whites 14 3 4 7 13 22 -9 13
8. Turtles 14 2 5 7 16 28 -12 11

The Stallions have a qualifier but should win.

For anybody out there reading this,

How did your team go?
What are your future plans?

Feel free to whinge about the Match Engine as much as possible.

I lost my game today after a MOTS with 60% and 63% possession. Had RoJo won, I'd be playing a qualifier next week with my Team Spirit completely stuffed.

To think i had 4 of those 6 wins by Round 5 too.

I mentioned tanking, but it seems i didn't even have to today, my team lost on their own merits 2-1. Pathetic.

I may/may not tank next week. Im sick of pissed off fans and losing out big time on money. Staying in the league will negatively affect the team in the long run. Lol and to think after the first 5 rounds with me like 6pts on top of the table, you were claiming i could win the league and get promoted. Now im hoping to be demoted...

Well I hope you choose to stay up but it's your team and a decision that you'll have to make.

At least you'll make some money out of a home qualifier.

What do I get for a fourth place finish in III?

$180,000!

It's little wonder people tank in this game.

My wages are over $1.4 million a week! :D

I'll be offloading at least one of my midfielders but they'll still be around the $1.1 million mark.

I think it's sustainable, just!

I'll be selling two of my defender trainees next season and that will hopefully net me around $15 million which should get me through the season.

Plus I'm still persisting with other nerdy pursuits to keep the game interesting like flagchasing (109 out of 124 away flags) and converting to an all-oceanian squad (3 players to go).

Haha ah yeah good luck with those achievements and all that. I don't pay for the Supporter thing so i don't get all that fancy shmancy stuff.

Knowing that i'll be getting 1.1-1.2 million+ a week at my home games next season compared to the 600k i was getting towards the latter stages of that season, the league seems relatively easy enough for me to top, unless i change my formation back to what it once was, which i think may end up better than 3-5-2 like virtually everyone plays. I like the 3-4-3 with 2 defensive forwards. I'll need to totally overhaul the midfield, but i think its a really good idea if i pick up 3 superstar centre mids, play 1 winger towards centre and I play AIM as my tactic, training passing gives me a great ratings for it.

As you said with the wage bill in higher levels, its really demanding, and teams cannot afford to lose out 500k+ fortnightly because the fans are pissed off. Might try to do a mass overhaul, ship off my older centre mids, pick up 3 new ones and a gun striker. Need to find a player that can take set pieces too.

Well I will be having a whinge!!! After 2 teams went bot recently, I was cruising in first position, but one of the bots maintained the pace by staying within 2 points (the bot still had its players from the human manager). Last game of the season, away to 2nd and I lose 2 nil. I really should not of sold one of my Brilliant IM's, I had to put in one of my excellent 17 yr olds. This resulted in them JUST winning midfield. But what pisses me off most, is the human manager never beat me... but I lose to the bot manager :S

So now I finish 2nd, was always going to miss out on auto-promote by a point. Still miss out on qualifier money. I am really gunning to be promoted next season and then camp in Div.4 for a while. Will be upgrading a wing-back and spending a fair wad of cash on a TDF. I think that should be enough for my team to white wash my division. Only problem is my midfield has been weakwned, I have a brilliant and magnif 19 yo PM's, but the rest are 17 yr old new trainees.

Whats your team again? The longer you stay down and can train youngsters up the better. Not to mention winning the league bonus (although its not much) as well as getting a larger spike in fans for an extra bonus when you get promoted. Purposely staying down a season longer than you should will reap benefits. Particularly if this league is as easy as it seems, if a bot is coming 2nd, they'll get taken over by next season and you'll cruise all the other sides.

My team name is S.S. Gabriel, I am in Div V.43

Yea I understand the benefits of camping, have been doing it for a almost 2 years in this division, haha. Yea the division was hard last season, but when my two rivals both turned bots this season, it obviously became a lot easier. I will def have the bot who finished first in my div, but the other bots in my league all finished in relegation/qualifier positions, so unless a big camper comes up from Div.6 I should be looking to white wash the Division.

Just want to move myself up to Div.4 after all this time, but I won;t be breaking the bank to do so. It's time I upgraded my wing back anyway and I really want one of these TDF's everyone raves about. My main striker is eligible to be a excellent / solid coach, I will give him this season to try to get his experience up to formidable. So hopefully if I auto-promote next season I will be looking at buying some new fire power up front as well.

If you're after the TDF's people rave about ask me. I swear I jumped the gun on that thing, i ued to love the technical players for the fact they get the bonus ratings in the heat, so i always used to pick up technical players well before this "TDF business" I got like 6 or 7 capable candidates. Most are probably way out of your price range though. Can tell you what to look for though, and what i've found works best.

I think TDF's can be extremely useful, a 3-4-3 formation which i plan on using next year can dominate. My shortcomings in this season was finding out that my attack rating was simply too low. So right now im searching for something like a world class/supernatural striker, as well as upgrading the central mids a more to make up for the one less mid i'll have in there and play a winger towards centre to lessen the midfield rating loss. Midfield rating has been by far the most important stat, generally its win that, win the match. Now they're looking at altering that a bit.

Well I will have to stick to 3-5-2 for training purposes. Do you reckon having a TDF would overload midfield too much at the cost of my central attack ratings?

I have budgeted about 7 mil for a TDF and will be looking to train their playmaking from the wing. Was looking at the 21-23 age bracket with at least formid scoring and passing and passable playmaking. What do you reckon?

I made one 2 weeks ago, just 1 match before the last round :eek:
I won 8-0 though
Doesnt matter when you start a team, the earlier the better ;)

What division are you in, and whats your team name?

Have you read the rules/forums to understand the gist of the game, the main part being how to make money?

Geez Sainter, no wonder all your guys wage budgets are ridiculously high. I saw the Whites in our league selling off his older players, they had massive wages too. Mythical playmaking with not much else. I like my mids to have a bit of a defensive side too. Shall look into your player though if he stays cheap.

I really did want younger players to train up through the midfield. It would give me two mids >28yrs old in my starting lineup. I suppose it could be worthwhile...

I'd probably look at something around solid-excellent scoring, high passing (outstanding+) and really low playmaking like weak, in the hope they slip under the radar a bit. If you aim to train playmaking and bump him up to around passable he'll be very decent.

Division VI.79
Team Name- The Sopwith Camels

As for the making money, i dont have a strategy quite yet, but by the gist i got from the other thread is that i need to get youth players and sell them for profit.
Not sure if thats right or not

Yep basically. If you're short on money and want to do decent in your league and have little/no money i'd suggest getting some goalkeeping trainees. You can find oldish players on the cheap that can last you a good 2-3 seasons at least and in that time the keepers can net you a fair few millions come selling time.

They give you such garbage teams when you start off now. I know my brother had to literally sack his whole team basically and start from scratch, had like 2 decent players from the initial team. As some can't afford to do that, goalkeeping for a couple of seasons goes alright. Get a passable coach with poor leadership and two 17 yr old keepers, i'd say look for a keeper with weak defending too, along with like passable/solid keeping. Or consequently find a passable defender with like weak keeping.

3 defensive stats = 1 goalkeeping stat, and the wages don't cost as much. Hence, my keeper is only formidable, but has excellent defending ;)

Thanks will change my transfers seasrch to look something like this. Saw a couple of nice one for about 5mil last night, will have another geeze tonight.

End of probably my most successful season in hattrick. Made round 6 of the cup (when my previous best was round 3) and secured 1st place in the last round of the season against the 2nd placed team with a qualifier this Sunday. I'm pretty keen to get into IV, however, with both of my mates having gone up and then immediately getting auto relegated and their stories of how big the difference between V and IV is, survival will be my first season goal. My weak point would have to be my playmaker trainees as I doubt that world class will be strong enough for IV. Anyway, hopefully by Sunday afternoon I will be in IV for the first time!

How much money do you reckon i should spend on a keeper?
Just found out that my second keeper is old and sucks, so im looking for a replacement.
Make sure you find keepers with the specs mentioned by Rojo. When determining how much they are worth, on the right hand side of the players information, click on "transfer compare". That will give you an idea of the market rate. But make sure u click on the comparables player ID number to see how many days old they were. The price for a 17,0 day trainee to a 17,111 day trainee is enormous.

The most important thing though is your coach. Rojo mentioned passable trainer with poor leadership, IMO if you can afford I would say get a solid traine with poor leadership, even if it means you spend a lil less on a trainees.

Hey, found you a gun, perfect for your needs. I was bored and it took like a minute. Player ID (268574178)

17 and 3 days, sells in 7 hours, not exactly the best time zone, i'd say chucking 50k on him will keep it pretty safe. Unfortunately you would've already played your friendly this week, so i'd suggest maybe leaving it til this time next week before looking to buy a player. The week's missed training makes a big difference.

Weak keeper, passable defending. Currently at 6k. Cannot find a better bargain than that though. Mass potential and within a couple of seasons could easily be worth a couple million.

In other news, i bought myself a midfielder, in my aid to consign myself back into Div.IV.
Also im selling off a winger, if he sells then in the past week i've sold 100% of the Italian component of my Stallions lineup :p

I plan to train some playmaking for a while now and make my own superstar mids rather than buy some.

21 and 16 days
Playmaking: World Class
Passing: Solid
Defending: Passable

Forked out 7.1 million for him. Im pretty pissed off i missed out on another mid earlier this morning, had to go into work, normally i would've been at home and assured myself of this guy. 21 yr old Supernatural mid, sold for just over 8 mill. I absolutely hate it, guaranteed no matter how much you bid, if you're not there for the deadline theres one person that'll outbid you. Always just 1 person. Shits me to no end.
