Ive drawn a guy who's ranked in the 1300's so i dont think ill get through to the 3rd round. I'm just going to play my better team in the league and play my 2nd midfield in the cup game PICing.

Just bought this bloke, had no wingers above inad... in my team so I thought he would be a decent purchase, solid stamina & wing to go with his passable pass & scoring. His TSI is highest in my team as well (doesn't say too much for my side hey?)

Only concern is his age because unless I get promotion in the next 5 seasons he won't be in the side when we go up.

Nikos Ganouris (125724634)
27 years, inadequate form, healthy
A pleasant guy who is balanced and dishonest.
Has poor experience and weak leadership abilities.

Nationality: Hellas
Total Skill Index (TSI): 3 500
Wage: 1 968 AU$/week including 20% Bonus
Owner: relegation bound
Warnings: 0
Injuries: Healthy

Stamina: solid Goalkeeping: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: passable
Winger: solid Defending: inadequate
Scoring: passable Set Pieces: disastrous

Career Goals: 5
Career Hattricks: 0
League goals this season: 0
Cup goals this season: 0

Do you think 300k was too much to pay for him?

Won 4-0 at home against the bloke who finished 4th last season, he has bought a couple of players over the break as well.

The winger I bought scored on debut, putting the 4th goal away.

Trained stamina in the 2 weeks off getting heaps of rises, my team played considerably better in the second half so good to see it is working.

lost 3-0 away today. I need tom improve my ratings in both attack and defence, have currently got 2 bids on 2 players with outstanding scoring and solid+ stamina, so hopefully i can get atleast one of them and then improve my defence as i only have players who are solid defenders.

He seems to be a good buy for your team.

Ideally you'd probably want to get a player with better experience. It's amazing how much of a difference a player with poor experience plays compared to somebody even at inadequate. Passing is a good secondary to have for a winger. Play around with your tactics a little in your friendlies. With good winger and scoring skill he'd be a good player to use as a forward towards wing.

My team had a 4-0 win. I'm in a strong league and that was probably my only easy match of the season (other than when I play him again). I played a weakened team in the hope of winning my cup game on Wednesday which won't be easy. The other players in my league have predicted me to finish 7th and on hatstats ratings that's my most likely spot to finish so I'll have my work cut out staying in Division 5.

Drew 2-2. Was lucky really, i got dominated in most areas on the pitch, so i'm happy with that result.

Won 4-0 at home dominating in possesion. Having 75% of the ball in first half and 87% in second half. I could promote this season, but a bit of luck with injuries will be required.

Great! I stumbled across this board. Just signed up for Hattrick a few weeks ago. Love it. Played my first Cup game, won 2-0, thought how good is this! First league game, smashed 4-0!!! Bugger. Does it take many seasons to be competitive? I've bought a couple of players with passable attributes for around 5-10,000. When does Skill,TSI etc go up, end of season??

I'll try to answer your question, and I'm sure the others will be able to correct me if I'm wrong.

In terms of competiveness it really depends on your league and your team.

When starting out it is reccomended buying a solid/poor external coach or if you can't afford that a passable/poor one. Also deciding on what area you wan't to train, buying 17/18 year old trainees and adjusting your formation to suit it.

Have you completed the licence challenge?

Skill and TSI levels increase or decrease on Friday of each week.

In terms of your players with passable attributes that is a start, but I would really have to see your team to have a better understanding.

Hope this helps!

Cheers Villa. Completed Licence as quickly as possible. Playing in Oceania League v.64 team Wonthaggi FC (424660). I picked one of the old hacks I got as part of my start up squad; i think he is crap. I was planning on giving him the boot and giving the job to another older player with solide leadership. Or should I just buy one? I have been training 100% on playmaking since first day. I am trying to flog off older crap players and buy in cheap young ones. On a positive note, my youth league team is 1-0 up at the half, on debut in Spain!! (crap, make that 1-1)

ok!
You said your training playmaking but looking at your lineup, your inner mids ages are:
27
21
18
30

This needs to be addressed as quickly as possible, as all of those players except the 18 year old are to old.

Aim at buying 17 year olds with passable/solid primary skills, so in your case playmaking.
You need to get young trainees as it means they train quicker, they recover from injury quicker and they will sell for a lot more on the transfer market. It also means that you will get more seasons out of them.

Also since you are training plamaking play a 5 man midfield with 3 inner mids, thus increasing your number of training slots. You will need 6 young inner midfielders and rotate 3 in league matches and 3 in friendly matches.

This all takes time and you have to be patient with your team as at first your trainees won't be great.

To start off with you sould get a passable/poor external coach along with your set off trainees. This means fire or sell your older trainees you currently have (you may be able to get a little bit for them, to help buy trainees)

With your youth team, tinker with the lineup as currently no one knows where there youth players play best so results are currently not important (as they have no stats). Change your lineup each week and see where your players play best.

I see you got beaten 10-0 today, but don't give up on it. Put in a good training program and over time you will see the results.

Anyway good luck with it all!

Won 6-0 away on a PIC. The bloke I play next round got injuries to 2 of his best players today so another PIC is on the cards.

Big game coming up in 3 games against the best team in the league, he also got a few injuries today but they will probably be right for the match.

Tried a 3-4-3 formation with my new winger playing as a fwd towards wing, he scored again. Might just stick with the 3-5-2 with him playing offensive because he scored when I played that formation as well.

Finances are not looking good, desperately need the home league match next round. I gave up a solid scorer for my youth team, I don't know why.

Good work Villa. :thumbsu:

When I first started playing hattrick 15 months ago it was the help that I received from people like Ed Gein on this thread that helped me to establish myself.

Wonnydog, when you're a new team you either get put into a Division 5 or Division 6 league. Because you've been put into a Division 5 league you might be on the receiving end of a few beltings but don't give up. If you're relegated so be it.

As Villa said you need to set up a training program. If you've chosen playmaking you need to buy 10 trainees. 6 of them should be inner midfielders and 4 wing backs. Buying 10 17 year olds might be too expensive so you might want to buy a few 18 and 19 year olds as well. Once you've done that and bought yourself a passable coach with poor leadership just make sure that you play 5 of the trainees in your league game and 5 in your friendly. All 10 will then receive training on the training day (which for us is Friday).

Won 3-1 despite him killing me in hatstats.

bought a new forward which will hopefully will give me more chances as my 2 other strikers are only solid scorers whereas this is formidable.

Stamina: formidable Goalkeeping: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: poor
Winger: wretched Defending: poor
Scoring: formidable Set Pieces: poor

Those are his skill levels.

Thanks Sainter!

I'm sure most users have experienced thrashings in their early matches, but what makes the game so fun is persisting with your trainees and building a team that may one day be able to beat that team you got thrashed by.

Thanks Villa/Sainter,
rest assured the sackings have started. Players and supporters are 'murderous' yet Sponsors are 'delirious'!!! Hard to purchase quality 17 yo due to cost and time differences unfortunately. Got a few youg'uns but the purge will last a few days as i can only sack one old bastard every few hours!

Team I'm up against in Cup has a back three consisting of Gustavsson, Gustavsson and Gustavsson.

Sponsers don't really care if the team is losing. What you need is one or two spokespersons to keep them happy. When you start hattrick the sponsers are often the best stream of income (as it occurs each week).

I've just realised your in Division 5 out of 6!

I also started in Division 5 in my first season and you cannot expect to stay up. For example the top team in your league has a player over 100,000 TSI and the 7th team in the league has a player over 200,000 TSI. To put that in comparison when a team starts you are lucky to have a player over 1,000 TSI lol.

Although winning will be hard this season, stick with your training program and remember, when/if you get relegated you should have a competitive team for division 6 and the win''s will come.

In a lot of respects you are unlucky to have been put in a higher division when starting out, but learn from the teams this experience, so that when you return to that division in later seasons you are prepared and know what to expect.

Won 4-0 at home on a PIC, team spirit is now content.

Sitting top of the league after 3 games, haven't conceded yet. Should PIC again next round, then the real test will come against the best team in the league.

Guys, on the alltid site where it tells you what league you will promote / relegate to is this set in stone for the entire season or does it change on a weekly basis?

Yep the promotion/relegation guide is not valid until the end of the last round when you can find out where you promote or relegate to.
Conceded my first goal this week and haven't got the best goal difference but that can be expected training defenders.

I've been promoted into a V league that was rated the 28th most difficult for this week and has been as high as the 15th most difficult earlier this season so my sole focus has been to do what I can to finish in 6th place.

At the moment I'm in 5th place with a 2-3 record but there's a lot of hard work to come.

So far I've suffered more injuries and suspensions this season than in any season I had in my division VI league but I'm enjoying the challenge of coming up against better teams week in week out. I was probably lucky to have spent as long as I did in VI to get my squad into a situation where I could at least have a competitive team.

2nd in my league. Had a big surprise win over Southern Spirit in my league 2 weeks ago, narrowly lost to the team in 1st 4-2 at home on sunday just gone. Overall, 3-1-1 and i cant really complain at all. Fixing up my defense has been the best move ever, i can mix it up a bit and counter attack if i have to (which is where i won 4-0 against southern spirit who is a much stronger team). I have a few tough games coming up too, i think i'm like sainter, my div V.219 is one of the toughest going around, although maybe not as tough. Nice press statement too sainter

I signed an old player (32) with the plan of making him my next coach.

He is a defender but the most experienced player in my team by far, haven't conceded yet in the 5 games so it has worked a treat so far.

Hope to finish top 2 this season.
