Spaanderman is doing a very strong pre-season at East Perth and will surprise many people this year.

I would expect him to be promoted to the senior list at the end of this year.

I'm pretty annoyed at this. The guy has obviously got issues, and I think there are better rucking prospects in the WAFL who don't carry the extra baggage. I guess if the club thinks they can turn him around then I will defer to their better judgement, but I don't think it's worth it.

Yeah, go onto the Eagles board and you'll see that most people aren't too happy about it. Although apparently the guy has been really knuckling down over preseason, but how many times have we heard that about a dud player? I'm hoping that the recruiting staff have got it right though.

Maybe the club thinks that having an element of the bad boy in a player is a good thing and leads to success.

It's all very nice to have a bunch of bible loving do gooders in your team but there unlikely to be the type that are risk takers on the field

They had no choice. The guy was a maniac. He may have changed, but it's not like he was setting the world on fire. 3 games for 12 possessions and 4 marks when he got a chance, and showed very little with the reserves.

I suppose because I see a bit of Spaanderman that I have some hope for him.

Here's got two ways he can go. He can throw away his opportunity like another former Eagles rookie listed East Perth player in Zac Beeck in which case he's doubly dumb. He can also excel like another former Eagles rookie listed player in Dean Cox. I'm hoping he learnt from a year in the WAFL how lucky he was to be AFL player.

The answer is only in his head and his hands.
