I agree with many on here that 3rd quarter was as well as Ive seen us play post Pagan/Carey et al. Hopefully a snapshot to what the tinkering of the gameplan will have us doing once it 'clicks'. Consistently bring the effort will hopefully be a by product of competition for spots now we are making some calls and introducing a different mix of guys

Yeah, hard to deny this game as topping the lot.

Funnily enough, I still felt we weren't at our absolute peak.

Agree.

We missed plenty of chances and had key players out.

Scary (in a good and bad way I guess)

Yeah and we were sloppy at times with our disposal, sometimes missing targets under little to no pressure.

Good signs though, with a lot of improvement left to be had.

We were very sloppy I thought. Missed a lot of basic hand passes in particular. If you improve that we're all of a sudden a much slicker outfit. Can't question our endeavour on this occasion though.

For me the Hawks game easily. I might be biased because I was at the game and it was literally the first win I've seen live since 2008 because I'm South Australian, but it was seriously an incredible experience.

No word of a lie, I stood up after every goal and every mark taken inside 50. I was going mental for my beloved Roos.

Copped so much abuse from Hawthorn supporters and even had a mandarin thrown at me after the final siren.

None of that could stop me singing the song at the top of my lungs in the crowd and out into the streets. I held my scarf aloft over my head all the way back to my hotel, just singing and chanting and getting around every North supporter I could. I'd be interested to know if anyone spotted me on here haha.

Also on a completely separate note, the Hop up Bar is just an outstanding idea, being on a 21st to be able to buy a beer or ten and get to spin that wheel every time, pretty much all of my mates won a scarf and were on the bandwagon for the night. Was bloody outstanding!

That's no way to treat a chinaman. Horrible stuff!

The Adelaide/St Kilda double in 2012 (after the Buddy 13 and a really poor display at Gold Coast) stands out for me.

I loved the Freo win too (obviously), but for mine they were poor that night and didn't take their opportunities.

I think it helped us get over the line, they are in much better form now. Sydney this year they had far more inside fifties in scrappy conditions, but we stayed in it then blew them out late. Still a great win

For me our dominance over the ground made the Hawks look bad, rather than them just playing bad (if that makes sense).

Yeah this makes perfect sense. I was sitting there thinking 'FFS when are they going to miss a shot at goal??' Bruest, Gunston, Roughy etc just don't seem to. And they didn't falter. So they did bring their A game in terms of execution, and aggression.

After wins against some top teams in the past, I've come away thinking in the back of my mind 'Geez, we got out of jail that time, we were lucky [insert player] didn't play, and they missed their crunch shots at goal - wont get a team like that playing so poorly again, we lucked out'.

This time it felt like both teams brought their A game, and our A game won. It felt as though we truly belonged amongst that quality.

But it still makes me laugh. Only we could beat all 4 top teams convincingly and still be 7th. Sigh.

Hawks easy.

We comprehensively outplayed the ladder leader who were by no means flat on the night. We pulverized them into submission resulting in them using head-hunting tactics to put us off our game and again we responded to the challenge and piled on 7 goals in the 3rd qtr. Our pressure was manic and our fearless use of the corridor was on show and all this was done without Wells, Ziebell, Grima, MacMillan, Tarrant, Nahas etc. Like I have heard many neutrals say, I haven't seen a Hawks side lose their bundle in a game where they've been challenged in a long time (maybe against Geelong) but this was a 4 qtr showing of skill and intensity where losing the game did not cross our players' minds once.

For the record, I thought Sydney and Freo were not at their best when we played them. I'd be much less confident of beating either side now, even if the game were to be played in Melbourne.

We beat the Hawks by dominating them in the 50/50 ball. We went harder for longer and they were rattled by it. Bring that attitude every week and we wont see many losses.

Play with Friday nights passion and I'd back us against Freo or Sydney in an away final. The talent is there all over the park, we are good enough.
