Im still thinking the younger daughter will be involved in some kind of reveal. Cant wait.
This will be the first tv show I fork out for the Blu Ray.

Also cant wait to see what McConaughey brings in interstellar.
Really, I can see her being a victim definitely. They have strongly hinted at it throughout the series (sure could be a red herring) and the episode 7 preview again hints at it.

Wow. either a lazy art director, a cunningly planted clue, or an equally cunningly placed piece of misdirection.

I can't help but think the wife is somehow mixed up in it. Which leads you to her apple pie, god-fearing parents too.

Extremely cunning. So cunning.

I just meant from the perspective that more has been speculated about the older daughter.

So is it a self contained Series 1 as I read earlier?

Yeah the plan seems to be each season will be a new cast, new case and a new location, with the aim that each location is as big a part of the feel of the season as rural Louisiana has been in this one.

Has anyone been watching American Horror Story? Apparently that's been doing a similar approach but the same actors also play different characters each season.

Beth seems to be a plant, maybe to keep an eye on the detectives and keep Hart off balance. That'd work with the idea that Cohle, if not both of them, are playing the long game knowing they're being watched as well and it'd clear Hart from being the king.

As for his wife she could still have been surprised if she was involved in the cult but the decision for Beth to approach Hart was made above her but then the bar scene doesn't really work..... We'll unless that guy who bought her a drink is strung up by a tree somewhere o_O

Another intruging episode I thought, loved how all those years later Rust still hadn't fixed the tail light broken during his fight with Marty:D

Rust doesn't let anything go.

The tension building over these last two episodes Is intense. Like sometimes posted earlier; hard to imagine how they are going to finish the story in time.

The guy with the scars is the lawn mower guy?? The one the girl loses it over when she remembers his face.

Now, just to throw a complete red herring into the ring, didn't Woody savour that big bowl of spaghetti Maggie served up to him? He was literally a spaghetti monster right on camera.

who's that aggressive older cop who only seems to appear next to the major when Rusty is getting close?

That's the most outlandish thing I have ever heard but it makes actual sense.

Damn this show.

There's been so much talk about the names in this show with lots of references to deers and kings but just to add one more in, the two women Hart has been unfaithful with, Beth and Lisa

Two versions of the one name and a Queen's at that.

The only thought I have had about next season is that whoever is involved has a tough act to follow.

Christ you basically need one of the top actors going around to match MM's performance.

Yeah the bar is raised very high.

My current thinking is Nic Cage.

Didn't Queen Elizabeth the 1st pass some amendment to the witchcraft laws, thereby making paganism not punishable by death.

The show is riddled with all sorts of symbols of paganism and the like, might just be another of those intellectual easter eggs strewn through the series.

Kind of like texture but not necessarily linked to the 'solution'.

Anyone thought of cast ideas for the next season?
They're looking at using female detectives aren't they? I guess it depends on a huge range of things, such as setting and period. Personally, I wouldn't mind a female pairing, one older and one younger. Patricia Clarkson and Emily Blunt, something like that. Guess it also depends how high they can go. They got MM amidst his massive career up-scaling, so who knows who else they could get. Perhaps Jessica Chastain or someone on that level?

This season they've basically cast 3 name actors (only just in Monaghan's case) then filled the rest of the cast with I-know-that-guys and local talent. Seems like they've got a pretty good grasp on budget.

On the latest episode: agree with the consensus, a filler episode that is still as good as anything on TV.

At this stage they could fill the hour with Rust and Marty drinking a few beers in a bar and watching a sporting event of some description on the TV and I'd happily watch. Dialogue would be nice but not strictly a necessity.
