Couldnt agree more.

Learn from the mistakes,
and come back next week fired up and ready to go.

Would love to get down to training with a banner:
Forget about it boys,
It's time to bounce back! :thumbsu:

A lot to like about the way your guys applied themselves; hats off to the coaching staff for not playing to "contain the loss". Your young guys particularly will get a lot more out of a game played "as it should be played".
We played as expected except maybe for the first 10 mins of the 2nd qtr (which was as good as it gets, ever) but Ess kept trying to play the kind of footy they need to learn to become a successful team. If anything, the final score flattered us a bit because your goal front accuracy was a bit off - was it 3 posters in a row at one point?
If you keep on and keep the young guys' heads up, you will win more than you lose (and that puts you in the top 8) and you will beat a lot of the teams that rate themselves top 4. Ryder a coming star, perhaps the only missing ingredient is the self-belief that he not only belongs there, but at the elite level.

Pretty much what I was thinking, we did have a bad loss, just a couple of basic fundamentals of the game went missing today. Goal kicking and accountability.
One thing I will say, is that at least Knights kept the faith, threw a few changes to the structure like Jetta playing out of the square, Lloyd moved up the ground a bit etc.

I thought we were Ok generally, but Geelong murder you on the rebound if you make skill errors, and we made too many. We played well enough to beat a lot of teams today, as they wouldn't have punished our errors as severely.

Geelong are the benchmark, so at least our young guys know where they have to get to.

Not a lot we can really say about today.

We broke down at half forward, our midfielders just couldn't go with their's, and our rucks just didn't give us a sniff all day.

Strangely, on the most part our defenders filled their roles very well.

O'Donnell and Camporeale will be sorting out that midfield all week one would think.

We didnt have the best game as a team, Geelong played like the premiership team that they are.
I agree that Ryder was a gun!!
As everyone has been saying.. we just need to bounce back and beat Carlton next week =)

Kick butt bombers this week. If anyone can bounce back its Essendon , Its a part of your history boys , these young kids are all class and will get even better each game played. Hate to be in Carltons shoes , Go Bombers.

That's 119 points win over the team which finished 2nd on the ladder last year and that too in a Grand Final.

Round 2 - 2008
Geelong 22-18-150 Essendon 6-15-51

Message to the Bomber fans...It's not the end of the world. Like how we were in 2000, Geelong have build a team who are ruthless and very very skillful, and they move the footy faster than anyone and run out the games far better than any team in the AFL. They simply have the best midfield and best defence, and a very very good forward line.

They've done that to the 2nd best sides in the competition and that too in finals. So try to see the positives and the areas we can improve on.

Positives:
What I was delighted to see was that we had 108 contested disposals to 118 by Geelong. That's pretty much even in a game where Geelong won by 99. Ryder's game on Mooney. Nash and Houli's consistant contribution. Dyson's game.

What we need to improve on:
We had 60 clangers to 30 odd by Geelong that's almost double. We had 21 scoring shots ie. converstion was only 28.6%. Free kicks 22 against only 11, similar to the last game. We can't afford to make mistakes when we have the ball and we can't afford to miss shots on goals and have such a poor conversion percentage. Another thing we need to really really improve is the amount of free kicks we give away. That too against a side like Geelong it will be costly.

Please don't turn on your own. The people who had a go at Lloyd and the people who shamefully had a go at McPhee, I tell you something don't ever do that again. What sort of moronic mind do you have?
