My old man's the same height as me, and both of us are about 8 inches taller than my mum. Not to mention my little sister who is an inch taller than me again ...

my brother who is 3 years younger than me was taller than me when he was in year 5 and i was in year 8. Quite humiliating.

if you're an 17/18 year old male & want to grow taller more sleep & more veggies may help!

a very loose theory at best. It's saying we'll be giants in a few generations. It's also saying if your mum is a dwarf you'll be huge due to the large difference between parents

My brother is 196cm and i'm 183 so its obviously not true for everyone. (unless there's something i havent been told)

When i was in year 8 i was absolutely tiny. I was easily the smallest in my year(including the girls) . Now four years on, i am beginning to pass everyone. It's so much fun. I have probably grown over the length of a keyboard in the last four years. The older i get the more i grow. At my current rate i should be 8-foot by mid 2006.

To be honest it's not the humiliation that worries me, I'm not short after all. It's more the fact that after all the **** I used to dish out on him when he was small, I know I'll cop it back in a few years time, and I know he'll be huge by then.

Well, I am about 173cm already, which is pretty tall for a female, but like I said, I grew late. When I was 12, my orthodontist sent me off to have my bones tested to see if my jaw had stopped growing. I was about 155cm then and they said I only had about 4cm to go - that I'd end up something like 159. I really don't know where they got calculation from. (And now apparently the cartilage in my jaw is wearing away)

I really didn't grow much through all of high school - I was one of the shortest kids, and a bit too skinny also. In my experience it was the sporty girls and skinny boys that grew latest. Once I put on a bit of weight when I got to about 17 I shot up and then grew until about a year and a half ago. So I spose I could be having a rather late growth spurt. I guess it's not impossible to grow at 21.

Y'know ... you could be onto something! That makes sense in my case (sporty girl) and a few of my male friends who are quiet skinny have only in the past year or so started getting much taller.

I'm 173cm too, weird .

Soon won't be able to claim even that if the 6ft 15/16 year old girls I see at work are indicative of the next generation(s) coming through.

Re: growth spurts - haven't grown a centimetre since I was 13, and not expecting to ten years on - even if by some miracle there were a few millimitres left, smoking like a chimney and sleeping barely 5 hours a night would quickly kill 'em off.

I'm 5'7" at age 16, I was already taller than both my parents at age 15 so I don't predict I'll grow much further (although I hope I do). What I lack in height, I make up in strength though. I'm stronger than a lot of my friends who are taller than me, and have been given the nickname "tank" in the past.

I'm a measly 203 I'm 16, turning 17 in January. I don't think I got much growth left in me though.
