If you have a digital TV, do you still need a set top box? (If this sounds stupid, some retailer said it.)



If not, are set top boxes just for old analogue TVs?

You don't need a set-top box with a digital TV. You only need a set-top box with a normal analogue TV if you wish to receive digital broadcasts.

Thanks, Dan. Some stupid Harvey Norman sales guy told me that. (The fact that footy forums are more helpful than some sales assistants says alot.)





One more question:
Do any set-top boxes have imputs for DVD players and Foxtel, or do DVD players and Foxtel have to plug directly into the TV?

Depends what you mean by digital TV's, I've seen many sets being portrayed as DIGITAL yet all that means is that they have digital tuners or use digital colour correction.

Most, if not all, TV's sold now have the standard RCA jacks at the back for DVD / VCR input. Better models have the whole lot, composite inputs, S-Video inputs etc.

I was asking wheather any set-top boxes have those imputs, not the TVs themselves.

Is there anyone who has a Panasonic QTR 2140? (That's their only high definition set-top box so if you have it you won't have to look at it to know what it is.)

If anyone has one, could you tell me wheather it has imputs at the back for a DVD player and for Foxtel?
