I accidently scraped my mum's car on a brick letter box the other night and there was some minor damage including some superficial and deeper scratches, and a cracked headlight cover.

I had a bit of a go removing some of the scratches with a product, and it sort of removed some of the very light scratches. However, I need to get the deeper scratches looked at.

I need some help! I know it costs about $100 to replace the headlight cover, but do you need to go to an auto-repair place for this?

Also, for those who have had to do it, how much do you think it will cost to cover the scratches? They are located on the front bumper near the light. There are probably 4 or 5 deeper scratches around 5 cm long on average and a couple of mm wide. The superficial graze area is around 10 cm x 2 cm wide. All in all, you can't really tell the area is damaged unless you look closely. I don't want it to be perfectly smooth, just a good enough job to reduce some of the more obviously damaged areas.

Does anyone have any idea the price range I would be looking at? Or, any tips on good repair places to see or call in Brisbane?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks LL - appreciate it.

I did look at those sites and others the other day, and I think that may be my best option.

What annoys me is they have an online quote option, yet when I filled the form in and sent it off, all I got back was "you will have to bring it in to get an accurate quote". Geez thanks.

my litle car had an altercation with a post in a car park once and I scratched the bumper, nothing too bad but I got one of those non scratch scourers and scrubbed it a bit and then from superthief I got this crayon type thing that coloured in the bits, can't see it now unless you look real close, maybe a cheap option to investigate before you shell out on a professional?

Good news. The scratch is gone.

And so is half the driver's side of the car.

I was driving along near Suncorp Stadium about to turn up the ramp to get onto Milton Road and was nearly driven off the road by one of these:

I must of been in his blind spot while he was changing lanes and he hit me. Twice. The second time he removed the side of the car. I was extremely lucky not to go under his wheels or be driven right into the stone wall on the left of the car. Or burst into flames for that matter.

Anyways the guy behind me saw it all happen and the car is now in the ER being looked at. Obviously the company have taken responsibility and are paying for the repairs.

I have a great story for any questions that ask "When were you ever scared absolutely shitless?"

Warwick, I really am glad you are O.K, but I have had tears rolling down my cheeks........Have just discovered this thread, so was reading from the start the trials and tribulations of the scratches to your mums car.......to then get to the bit that said.."its o.k, scratches gone, so is half the car, it is in the ER" etc etc.....very serious situation, but outcome good........sorry, just saw the funny side..

Good to hear you are OK Warwick. But when did it happen? If it was this afternoon, would it have happened if the intraclub was not cancelled?

Did the scratches ever get fixed?
