This lad is getting better every week, seriously good footballer......I don't know where he is situated with his contract but please get his name on the dotted line and lock him away at the AFC for a loooooong time!!!! :thumbsu:

Hendo was fantastic today!!!
i'm guessing if Craigy is going to bring Burton back in, it will be for Walker, and i will be outraged again, but seriously, our forwardline is firing well together.

I seriously can't see him getting back in. Maybe on the wing at the expense of a midfielder, or maybe for Porps if he goes off the boil again?

loved his up the ground leading and his set shots
Yes indeed :thumbsu:

Important for us to have a player like Hendo to complement Walker/Tippett who both are more comfortable close to goals. Hendo will be very important for our structure, assuming that we keep picking him.

He is on a rookie contract. No doubt he will be upgraded at years end and earn himself a 2 year contract :thumbsu:.

Love him like a brother from another mother.

So quick and has good skills. Him and Jaensch have reinvigorated the forward line.

^^ this.

Hendo and Jaensch have provided great leg speed, offensively and defensively, to our forward line. I reckon Knighta/Porps will be spending more time in the midfield when everyone fit and settled into the team. not a bad thing either.

Henderson's game today was one well worthy of a rising star nomination IMO.

22 disposals, 8 marks, 5 tackles and 3.0, all done in a very classy manner with pace, must put him under notice.

He's a genuine talent with great skills and speed for a man his height - a genuine rising star IMO. :thumbsu:

definitely worthy! only competition so far would be Redden, who had another great game (making that 4 consecutive great games).

I think Hendo is too old to get a nomination. Thats what a few posters said last week on the main forum.

That'll teach me to trust 5AA who looked it up and said that Hendo was eleigible in their summary of the match today.

I just had a look myself and part of the rules say under 21 on the 1st January and unfortunately Hendo was 21 as he turns 22 this year.

Great game and while this season has been shite for so many reasons there is plenty of upside and this young gun is going to be one of them.

Look forward to how he goes against the Cats.

If the forward line of Henderson, Walker, Tippett, Jaensch, Knights and Porplyzia all stays together AND fulfills its potential then we have flags on the horizon.

Without getting too far ahead of myself we have the best clunker of a mark in the game in Tippett, the mercurial Leading forward with immense skills in Walker and the up the ground forward who provides that option 50-80 metres out in Hendo. We're developing our own Jonathon Brown/Brendan Fevola type setup in Walker and Tipp only we have our own Robert Murphy type player thrown into the mix for good measure. When you combine that with Jaensch and the Porps and it's already imposing. Get the Knighter fit and firing and that's literally an unstoppable forward line.

Not only does it have great balance in terms of talls, smalls and mediums but you could literally have 3 of your forwards shut down and still have your other three potentially snare 10 goals between them. If it gels and we get them all healthy for a prolonged period of time then we'll kick monster scores. If we could develop some more scoring power from our midfield then I don't doubt we'll win flags, not just flag.

It's like my own Blue, Red and Gold porno.

hahaha.. i think most of us salivate dreaming of the potential.

I remember before the game started R22 last year looking out and think.. sheesh thats a good forwad line. We've replaced Burton/Hentschell with Walker/Hendo and thrown in a Jaensch for good measure now.

My biggest concern at the moment is Porps. When he is a key target he played well. Can he become an effective crumber? Can he get the best out of himself when the ball isn't directed at him?

I think he probably can.. but I saw signs today that made me question it.

(not to mention we need to keep a lid on how good guys having only played a few games could be ;) )

I think Porps will really need to put in the hard yards this preseason and move up into the midfield permanently, with the likes of Tippett, Walker and now Hendo firing, I just don't think there's room for a 178cm marking forward. We need blokes like Jaenschy or Sloane at their feet roving, not competing against them. Porplyzia needs to develop into our modern day Darren Jarman. Super smooth, classy, inside/outside midfielder who can be thrown forward as a match winner.

Absolutely loving Hendo by the way, just has so many weapons at his disposal, pace, agility, height, leap, good skills, clean set of hands, this bloke will make a quality "foil" for the twin goal machines in Tippett and Walker.

Post of the forever. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Line in bold is so true. I have trouble quantifying the awesome of our forward line - the idea that it doesn't have Knights in it at the moment is quite ridiculous. *shivers with delight*

...:o

Agree with this, and what I'm loving the most is that he seems like the first guy in our side to begin charging at the ball carrier (or the receiver if the ball is still in flight) almost irrespective of how unlikely it is he'll catch him. He either forces the defender to act quicker than he wants to, or he catches him, it's scary just how quick on his toes he is.

As for his sticky hands though, it is still a slight concern that he so often loses sight of the ball when he plays from behind. Several times in his few matches so far he's been in the right spot for the ball to spill over the back of the pack, only to completely misjudge it. When he leads at the ball he doesn't seem to have this problem even when receiving body contact so I can only assume it's losing sight of the ball. Either way, it's a small complaint and will hopefully become less and less of an issue as he gains experience.

While we're all salivating over our beautiful young forward line, Jaensch proved again this weekend that he's as natural a goalkicker as any we've had in our side in a very long time. He just needs to get his hands on the ball anywhere inside 50 and he's a good chance to swing around and slot it, I feel more confident with his hands on the ball than any of our other forwards. How nice will it be to have a small forward who can rove balls and then actually be relied on to slot goals? :)

I think Porplyzia still has a place in our forward line but I agree that he can be of more benefit in the midfield at the moment with other youngsters filling that need for a marking forward who can kick goals, and our midfield having lost the experience of Edwards and possibly McLeod. I don't think his fitness will ever reach the stage where he can be a permanent midfielder, but in our current structure I doubt this will matter. You regularly see the likes of Henderson, Jaensch, Stevens, Davis etc pushing up to centre clearances and playing around the middle for short patches, we seem very happy to rotate lots of different players through there, presumably to ensure our centre line-up remains fresh. I'd love to see Porplyzia start in there (a starting centre line-up of Maric/Griffin, Thompson, Vince and Porplyzia sounds very nice indeed, with Reilly/Doughty/Sloane/whoever on the wing or doing a tagging job), and then be rested either up forward or down back depending on who they're moving in. If he can spend roughly half the game in the centre and then be allowed to rest up forward or slot down back when necessary, he'll be of immense value to us.
